I often watch poker-related youtube videos, I also like to open the tables of the leading poker tournament chips and watch their moves.

After watching Moneymaker, I played with family and friends to start evolving my game. Then took it to live games and watched a lot of different videos and situations.

My first experiences were in Red Dead Redemption. Got instantly hooked and started to play on PokerStars right after.

I’ve learned from the free articles on the web. Upswing definitely helped me a decent amount for example.

I learned to play poker by first watching WPT because it was a fascinating show to watch poker on tv and especially the way they produce the show.

I learned to play poker in high school. Some colleagues kept insisting on joining them at a cash game. I didn't understand much at first but then I started to learn from the most experienced ones who always took our money. :D

Can't remember where i learned the absolute basics as a kid but i'd assume my dad or one of the guys who worked for us. After that starting watching wsop and beating all my friends at drunken home games.

Learning how to actually play (to be honest still in process) happened right here over last 12 months. As far as outs, equity, icm, c-bets, opening hands and everything else i've learned so far honestly i'd have to credit 80-90% to cards chat. obviously hours studying playing and watching my own games is a big part of it but learned what to study & best ways to improve here.I can't believe it's free better than that they pay me. LOL

Probably one of the last really valuable commodities left you can get absolutely 100% free on the interwebs (legally) or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks again CC for everything. :adore:

I learned in my buddy's basement when I was 16. There were 6 of us, we were all drunk and played a $5 cash game. Trying to remember the rules after everyone argued over what beat what was difficult to say the least lol. After that, we made it a weekly ritual and the games became more serious as time went on. We became obsessed with poker and learned the different forms, started buying books, reading everything we could our hands on and poker became the topic of pretty much every conversation. All of us became pretty solid players and invited people we knew from all over town to play weekly and the games were $600 2/5 as well as a monthly $200 MTT, I'm surprised we didn't get robbed lol.

A few of us actually quit our jobs, rented an apartment and began playing at Horseshoe in Indiana for higher stakes. We did well for a few years but one joined the army, the other fell in love and that's when the whole college thing happened for me. Now, for fun, I play micro stakes online. I feel like a failed athlete lol.

I watched some games in Vegas during the mid-90s from the rails and found it an intimidating environment and didn't play. About 7-10 years later I got enough courage to join a FLH $5-10 game at a local casino and the players at the table were patient and tolerant (and even helpful) during my first game. I later played NLH at some of the strip casinos in Vegas which again I found intimidating. Being Canadian, I apologized a few times for wiping out a bankroll here and there and learned more about game etiquette. Online, I started playing when the hockey strike occurred and again made many mistakes regarding bonuses, special games that you qualify for...etc...Unfortunately, I got tunnel vision and tried to optimize every aspect of my play (looking for the big money wins) and imperiled my personal life. I stopped playing online for about ten years.
Like all good things, do it in moderation but do it well. The rewards are there.:help:

I learned playing on PokerTH back in 2013. It's a great free program you can use to play online with others that has a leaderboard and active community.

My first experience with poker ... was once I saw a poker tournament on ESPN ... the truth really caught my attention to the point that I immediately started searching the internet for the rules of the game ... then I started to watch tutorial videos online and so I started learning everything about poker ...!
