I've had pretty decent success with freerolls finishing close to money and actually in money a couple times, outside of the freeroll club stuff. Also once in about 5 tries or so got some with Cards Chat now, and I've learned so much from everyone here it's an amazing group here! I'm not extremely social usually and when I try to be I seem awkward.

If you really have no money to desposit then you'll have to get used to playing for 3 hours to make 3 cents with the occasional 4 hours for 10 cents with maybe a rare 5 hour stint for a few dollars ;-) If you play enough freerolls then you eventually have enough to play some Sit N Go's or low buy in tournaments (with fewer players and, hopefully less crazy types) or low stakes cash. Good luck.

The FTP national freeroles are SICK especially if youre from a small country
... prize pools are $100-150. small fields, good payouts. for example i play the Newzealand on every night and have cashed 18/26 free rolls so far! the fields usally gather around 300ish and 27 get paid. easy opponents too

How good or bad freerolling is for starting up depends on your personal values and how they lead you to define good and bad.

In the open ones with large fields and small prize pools, you're going to average pennies per hour of playing time. This means it can take weeks or even months to build up a modest amount, say $25 or even $10. If you're content with that, then freerolling is good. If not, it's bad.

Try eg Redbet freerolls (Boss). They have some in July: 200-500 euro prize and only 400-500 players.
Full Tilt also have festival freerolls (5K each) this month.

Just won the today's 200€ Redbet freeroll winning 45.9 €. YEHAAAAAA! :) :)

get in FR club here and you will learn a lot and make some... forget about mass donkaments unless you want to sit for 6 hours to make 20 bucks.... Which as you point out, are trouble because of the early sloppy all in play... take some time to learn here boyo...

Depends on the freeroll really. FTP Nationals are ok,
anything else on P* or FTP is usually a WAFT.....

Become a active member here and join the freeroll club.
Way different game IMHO.

Just keep playing the freerolls and read a lot of articles on how to improve your play. I was like you before I joined here I could never place in any freerolls I was playing in, then I joined here and I am so glad I did! I have now finished 3rd in a 700 field freeroll, I have placed a few times before this but that night was the best I have ever done and I doubt I would of ever gotten there if it weren't for CC.

You have done the best thing by joining CC now all you need to do is study and you will be placing sooner than you think, GL at the tables :)

I only deposited once my money to Everest Poker when I started playing poker. 2 months later I withdrew it cos I got enough money from mainly freerolls to start my poker career in micro tourneys.
That year (2009) there were a lot of freerolls (I remember there was a freeroll on Titan for new depositors where the winner got a Peugeot cabrio), but I think there are still frees to get enough money to start. And it's much better playing with "others' money" than mine and less stressful. ;)

Think that better way to get big BR is deposit, better min50$ to fulltilt and play step sngs or MTT from 0.55 to 1.1 max,as for me i get br 600 from 35 after 1 week)

The freerolls seem really annoying and to me they look like unbeatable...i have won 4-6 1.5 90 man tourneys but fail miserably in the FR....no matter what you do cant stop somebody from going all in against your kk and then they sucking out with 28..

Am i suppose to fold the KK or hope it doesnt get sucked out so that I can double up?

Never fold KK!!!
You are so far ahead of their range and if you run into AA, meh!
Try to remember poker is about the long term results....

Yea never fold KK unless your a nit like me and fold KK when you are on the bubble :D

Seriously tho I will not fold KK anymore not even if I am on the bubble, I see it as fate, if I am supposed to win, I will. If I am not, I wont.

I'm having a hard time winning a freeroll because in the beginning people go all in all the time and i get beat with pocket aces or king a lot, it seem almost impossible to win one, or is it just me that can't win one or finish in top 3??

What is problem with that? You just need to adjust your range. Freerolls are MTTs. Even best players only get to final stage of few MTTs.

Just choose reasonable freerolls (not 10$ for 10000 players). And of course, dont expect you will get couple of dolars per hour from freerolls.

And be sure, after you get to last 20-30% of players, you will see normal poker game. And with some bubble, or big jump on money, you will meet so many super nits.

I rather like the challenge of building a bankroll from nothing. The freeroll tourneys can be extremely frustrating but it will help you understand variance and how to play against fish.
I recently built a bankroll on BCP from freerolls. I am playing cash now but it was really easy to beat those tourneys.
Good luck.

These things happen all the time, however you can't say that because your KK or AA got cracked by garbage the last 5 times you played it, for example, that you will give up on playing premium hands. This happens to pros all the time, Vanessa Rousso got drummed out of this year's Main Event in the same way, she kept getting beat by lesser hands but that's the way it goes sometimes.

You have to view it over the long term. If we were to run a computer simulation, 82 against KK to the showdown in 100,000 random flops, obviously KK would have the advantage.

In open freerolls you have to gamble if you want to make it deep, the play is totally different from CC freerolls. Fold equity doesn't mean as much in open freerolls, if you get down to 10BB midway through and start shoving, people are going to call because they have a couple of suited cards or just for the hell of it.

Another thing I constantly see in the first third of open freerolls is that 3 or more players will just be sitting out. Open up your range when this happens because you're effectively at a short-handed table. Raising with J9o on the button would be a lousy move when the whole table is active and there are 3-4 limpers already, but if it's just you vs. the BB because you know the SB is sitting out and everyone else folded, it might not be a bad play.

If you are determined to build startup money from freerolls (like i am) face it that if you play like it is suggested (tight aggresive) you'll still dont playing with 100% winig hands, and the time when aa lose can happen any time, does it mean that you should foldem when there is one player left before the bubble? Play only premium hands, dont risk after the flop if you dont have the nuts and keep focus on the strategy no madder what happens, you might not get rich, but it will give you a money to start sooner or later

I just won $50 for 4th place in the LOCK $500 CC Free Roll. Now, thanks to Cards Chat I have bankroll on 2x more sites than I ever deposited on. I put money on 2 sites but have $ on 6. Only one of them is not supported here at CC. So I would say Free Rolls + Cards Chat strategy/forums is a GREAT way to build some BR.

I also do not enjoy to support the initial time of freeroll tournments, due to those "bingo" players, that think this is the way to get some stack (going allin with any set of cards)
Nevertheless, regarding being harder, i think it is not and that you can take advantage on this players. You just need to be patient, and only pay those allins when you have a really strong hand. Preferently a high pair (AA or KK, and even QQ), because those are already guarantee to any other single pair that bingo players may strike.
Hands like AK, AQ, or AJ are also nice hands to pay these anoying players, but you need to have the luck of those players do not strike any pair unless you also strike one pair.

If you wait for your safe hand, you will see that freerolls aren't so hard to get to the money as you initially may think.
While you are waiting for your strong hand, your stack will decrease, but then again, you will almost for shure double it when it arrives. Meanwhile, those "bingo" players will disapear, because luck may strike sometimes, but not all the time...

Regarding you being beated with a strong hand, that will depend on your luck / your oponent luck, but nobody can fight that, and i can unsure you that someone win this freerolls, so if you play with strong hands, why shouldn't come your time also?
For me, there is one way you can try to avoid that, but it will bring a descending road to your stack, because you will be out for many times, and blinds will be eating you.... That way, is you do not pay other people allins, and only play with strong hands....

You must find your balance between being tight/loose, and agressive/passive.

However, do continue trying to earn some small money on freerolls because that will not bring you any cost, will increase your experience, and also will increase your bankroll

NOTE: Please do apologize my bad/weak English

yes they definitively aare! You just have to know which are worth to play.. there are still some of them every week :) But they are on different softwares so you have to have like 7-8 softwares instaled :) I was able to make 100-150 dollars per month just from freerolls, when I started to play poker and I played like 5-6 hours daily it. But I was always too greedy and I withdrawed all of it so my bankroll is still 0 :D
