Experience is a huge factor, especially when knowing what to play when and who to play it against.I have played many different types of players in the many years i have been playing but some of the toughest and smartest players ive ever played were in prison.I have played in minimum security medium and max.Playing against those players has taught me how to keep my nerve and hide tells at the table making it easier and more relaxing when i play normal players live outside of the prisons. So when some dude in a casino loses his temper im weathered enough to keep my cool.

The more experienced seem to show up deep in tournaments.
Having said that my wife barely has any interest in the game but in home games she slaughters everyone. She is the luckiest person I know. She won on The Price is Right game show. She has won cars and trips and...but not the lottery, dammit!

I think that the Foundation is knowledge, that is, it is a theory, and in second place is practice. And experience is already as a follow-up circumstance-comes with practice, when you apply in this practice the knowledge that you have learned in theory! So experience is a derivative of theory and practice. Of course a big role is played by several factors - it's intuition, luck and variance, (although I think that luck and variance - poker is the same) but in my opinion - on luck and on the nititsii not achieve much!

Experience is important but lucky newcomers without some fear in this game are often winners.

Go to any Casino or cardroom and watch players who grind everyday, year in year out, and perhaps have never read a poker manual. What they have read is their opponent: how they play, how they look, how they act - cards are important but do not neglect your opponent.

Ninety percent of poker is luck. I've played the best poker possible only to run into a newbie with rubbish who runs his hand(s) into a marvelous showdowns .
This will happen many times and no amount of experience can prevent it.
The big sites with many players, and many hands being dealt, appear the worst for this.
Occasionally you run good but to do this you need a lot of luck.
If you can find the bad players and out gun them and the variance attached to hold'em you will win. Good luck.
If experience was a huge factor the top professional players would always win the wsop, Main Event.

It is. But it doesnt have to be your own. You can learn from other player experience. But you do need it and its main thing when learning this game.

Experience certainly helps. This is why its important to play your best game as often as possible to develop good habits and also to give yourself an honest assessment of your game to improve.

There is a reason the same players are consistently in contention for these big games. I can't believe all these known pros are just on 20 year luck streaks.
