Just look around !

Where is the real money IYO?

hmm, strange one question. Really one !
real money - is everywhere : only if you`re not the lazy one.
For sure - somewhere much easy to grab it, somewhere not.
But if you understand the `mark` (the point which one you wanna to reach), only time & work is your barrier.
Move on !

Complicated keep a level on both.

You have to specialize in one mode, they are very different games.

I love playing cash zoom 6 max and played mtts too, it disrupted my game

if you want to become a better player, and want to make money consistently picking about the fish its cash. it improves your deep stack poker stars, your isolation, your post flop game, set mining, etc.. tournaments become more of a pre flop game, and have high variance.. cash is where the money is.

Thats right:), cash is where the money is:cool:. But you need a BR first. Its different to play cash game than tournament.

"cash games differ from tournament in just a couple of respects. .... Other than that, the rules governing the two games are almost the same.
These apparently differences, however, are enough to make the two games very different. Players who play almost entirely cash games are unfamiliar with some of the nuances of tournament play. Many tournament specialists flounder around (i like this phrase) miserably when they try to play cash games."

Home Cash Games

New to the site here. My buddies and I are looking to start a online cash game with people we know. Have college buddies all across the country so it is tough to organize an in person cash game. Can anyone recommend a software that would allow an organized home "cash" game. Right now we use pokerstars for tournament play but obviously use only "play chips". Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Cash games

Its all about ROI. Cash is a constant. The blinds don't increase so there is much less variance. A reasonably good cash game player can make ~$200 at $1/$2 in 5 hours. The game stays the same for the most part.

There's a lot of dead money in tournaments. But you have to navigate an entire field of good, medium and poor players to get to the money.

Low stakes ($20-$80) tournaments are the equivalent of playing scratch tickets. The structures of these tournaments rarely let you "play" the tournament to the end. Chopping is a way of life in some tournaments making them unprofitable when you DO make the final table. Think of it like this.....you play a 4-5 hour tournament to the final table. But the structure is so fast that all the players have less then 8 BB's. So the right thing to do is just chop the prize money. Otherwise you really are just playing BINGO. So you make $300ish for your 5 hour day. Oh......minus your, lets say $60 buy in. So your ahead for $240 for 5 hours of work.

Now a good player can expect to make the final table 2-3 times out of 10. If they say the cash more then 30%....they are most likely lying to you. Or not accounting for multiple buy ins. This is just not a model you can expect a wage from. Many tournaments players supplement their bankroll with cash games.

About 50-60% of the time you will play 2-4 hours and bust (whether it be unlucky or a cooler) and walk away empty handed. Most likely to the live cash games. If you had the same run in a cash game.....you would have made your $100 buy in grow to $200-$300 in those 2-4 hours. And if you got coolered your number would drop another $100 but you won't walk away empty handed when you take a bad beat. Unless you steam, which is for another feed.

What are the stakes of the tournaments you have to play? Whats the duration of the tournaments? Can they be reasonably played to the end? These are very important details to include to properly answer your question.

Not sure if this was directed at me or not. All great info, but not at all what I was asking. I am simply asking if anyone knows of an online software in which I can run a cash game on in which I can invite players that I know. Similar to PokerStars Home Game. Thanks!

It´s a personal question, but if you´re playing to make money fast, you´re in the wrong way to think about it. You´ll find weak players in both : cash-games and tournaments, but in general, the weak players, will be find in limits like NL2, NL5 and NL10, of course that in medium-high limits you can find them, but in general the regular players will dominate the dynamic of the table and will extract a lot of money.

Perhaps a better question might be to just ask what type of game most of these responders are playing & you'll find the most profitable (soft) games! :)

Ofcourse tournaments , if you are better at playing them , final tables have the money , but if you are better at cash games , then cash games , sb can win a lot of money there .
