In Kiev, was closed all the places where the game was practiced in poker. You do not know how to respect the laws of our country? show at least one legitimate place where people come to play for cash or tournaments with prize money?

I play live occasionally now at a local tribal casino. Actually won about $10K on a bad beat jackpot not too long ago playing $4/$8 limit O8.

Haven't been back for months - it seems like every time I go the people who play small stakes games are all regulars.

This would be fine, but they openly collude and are generally unpleasant to be around (when these are the regulars the staff won't do anything about it apparently).

No, it is not in the northeast, but I'm not surprised to hear this is a problem elsewhere.

Small stakes live games are hard to beat for a significant sum consistently (with the rake). This tends to lend itself to sourness and people looking to gain an edge on everyone else by any means possible.

Not the norm from what I hear but not surprising either.

It often seems that CardsChat is filled with a lot of online micro to low stakes players, which is fine and definitely a blast to read about, discuss, and learn from as we hone our skills and practice our passion of poker together.

But I'm curious as to how many people here play live poker:

And if so what stakes, location (casino, home game, underground), format/type, frequency.

I'm also wondering if the mods have considered a live game sub-forum under one of the main headings depending on how many folks enjoy live poker.

I played live 1/2 NL Holdem game for about 5 years. It's a grind. Same boring place on a beautiful summers day. Same dull bunch of losers, lugging their crap behind them.

The really heavy part of playing live is just how slow the game can be. Whoever overcomes their boredom the best, wins. To sit for hours waiting for a perfect situation takes serious patience and discipline.

Also there is normally a much limited selected of tables and games. Its not like online , where you can jump in and out as you like,

In Ukraine poker is banned, but we have clubs all over the country as well as casinos.
I play few times a month because illigal clubs sometimes being closed. Once I've been at table when police came...one of the worth nights I've had.
