Live or Online

Online is definitely much more difficult cash game. There is softer competition at the 1/2 live but the 10% rake really kills profit, not to be confused with revenue, and tips if you are stupid enough to tip.

Online the house watches you closely and tracks what type of player you are,at least at ACR they do. With sharkscope you can figure out how a player has done in tournaments.

Live is best, for me. I live in Los Angeles, one of the hottest spots for live poker in the world. Also online poker, while not strongly regulated against, is still considered illegal here. But here are some reasons why I think live is better in general:

-No depositing. Give cash, get chips, on the spot. No having to give up your credit card or bank account information to an offshore site.

-Fair game. No bots, and almost guaranteed no cheating. You're also in a legitimate casino regulated by a gaming commission which treats cheating as a crime. Many people's criticism of online is they can never be sure they're being given a fair shake.

-(Generally) Softer players. No one's using a HUD or software at a live table, thus you don't have to worry about players having information about you available to them that you don't know how to obtain about them, as far as stats are concerned.

-Live tells. These are real, and can be a serious weapon to have if you are good at interpreting them correctly.

Those are just a few reasons why I would always rather play live than online. Plus, live is the true heart and soul of the game of poker. Get to look your opponents in their eyes, and see their will absolutely crumble as you crack their aces with ace nine offsuit after flopping trip 9's. You can't beat that.

live...... the cards hold up way more than online and not so many badbeats. this is not because you play more hands online, this is because programs are made to make company's money.

Depend on your time, your location, your custom.
I play online because I want to play with foreigner players in my schedule time.

I prefer playing live games. Problem is that they are limited to what is available where you are. You might not find games the size and type you want. Tournaments at live rooms are generally very fast moving (they need to convert players into rake providers) and often limited by room size. Additionally, if you don't have a good bankroll or a good amount of expendable income the games are fairly pricey. You will not find any $1.10 tournaments at a casino and no $2 buy-in no-limit games. So, while I find live to be a more enjoyable experience, the online game is much more practical most of the time.

I like to play poker online, I play in my house with Russian, Canadian, Japanese, Brazilian. I prefer to play poker online because I do not need to go somewhere physically. I have the possibility to play more hands at the same time. I can play 24 hours a day. I can play on more than one table simultaneously. I have the possibility to stop playing whenever I want. I have more reason to prefer online poker, but I think that's enough.

Live, see too many river beats online, therefore more luck involved. Live is more random and you can pick up on tells, thus more skillfull.

There is most of all qualities about online poker in this post.
To me, comparaison between live poker/online poker, resides in comparaison between quality/quantity.
Live, player who doubt about rigged poker online are happy, you can feel more the pressure and feelings in general - to your opponents and yourself - that's was poker is by definition. And you can meet and talk more easily with pros than you could online. Sadly, rake is higher

I prefer live play, where we can see the reactions of each player and imagine what they have at hand.
Online game often luck prevails in relation to knowing how to play.

I love both, but I prefer live. There is nothing like the camaraderie you feel at the tables.

As for me, live playing is much more interesting but harder at the same time (not complaining though).

I agree with this. I consistently do extremely well when I play live at any skill level. I think my skill of being able to read people and adjust my play to have the advantage over them is useful in the live game play. Online you seem to be at the mercy of luck and people playing recklessly and getting lucky. I am still working on my strategies to improve online but at least I can go play live and reassure myself that I can be very profitable. It’s a good confidence booster to continue playing online to develop a different set of skills. Online tournaments also have allowed me to develop a lot of patience and control my emotions. This also helps in live play.

I never play live, only online. But when I watch poker on TV the same situations, bad beats all the time. Poker is a game of luck and patience.

You can not answer unequivocally, both are interesting. But when I play live, I think it's more exciting and responsible.

For putting advanced concepts in to practice and learning, online. More hands per hour means more opportunity to learn. But I prefer live because you get to interact with people more and really get a feel for people’s tendencies and tells

It is better to play live to feel all the emotions of the game, but in my case I prefer to play comfortably from my house

I mostly play online. I find myself getting a little anxious on live poker because there is only a few girls (or even none) and guys try to intimidate me, teach me and give me a pat on the back and I don't feel very comfortable with that

live, it is more difficult to play, because there is a lot of human factor, the eye in the eye, the pressure of the environment .. who is not accustomed by the big iron, the professionals, and even the regular ones that always play, will have a greater advantage about you, that has no practice in the live .. online is more range, and math.

The best filling playing poker is with my friends. Of course I prefer live poker in smokey room with no light with alcohol and chips. [emoji1][emoji16] Online poker is for gambling, all the real true joy goes to live poker with friends.
