For those of you who don't know the term, "chasing" is something experienced by problem gamblers (usually those who play negative expectation games such as blackjack) when they get the urge to recover losses by continuing to play past the point when they should stop. I'm the farthest thing from a problem gambler, but I just had the urge to chase. I just had a hideous session of 4 STTs that wiped out 24 STTs' worth of profit, and instead of getting upset, I wanted to fire up another four tables right away and get that profit right back. I forced myself to follow my usual pattern of taking a break and doing other things between sessions, but it took about 20 minutes for me to stop obsessing on the party poker icon on my desktop.
Has anyone else here had a similar experience without it implicating a gambling problem, and how have you handled it?
