bad beat jackpot or not... they all get paid well for what they do. He didn't make the cards come out that way. he didnt go get you a drink or food. when i goto work people don't come into me an hand me 500 bux cause they won something so why the hell would i tip a dealer for doing his job?

Finally others see my side of things, I was beginning to feel like the odd one out ha

I'd tip, but it would depend on the dealer. Some dealers are polite, helpful and add to the enjoyment of the game. Others just deal the cards and act like they'd rather be somewhere else.

i was the guy that got the 3700 in this case. I tipped 100. Considering the responses i think my tip was standard. I feel that the dealers should get at least the table share amount by the end of tips.

On the response that said give the dealer $500, when I am in that position, I always think of a couple of my kids who really need that $500, why give it to a stranger?

I guess about 5% of the amount won is generaly okey if you can afford it. If it seems like too much moneis to give away than simply adjust the amount to whatever is bearable for you. Any sum, unless really ridicolously small compared to your winnings, will be highly appreciated by dealers for sure.

right now i am in a area with no casinos. but back in 2002 to 2005 i was into Casinos lotts.. made a pact with one of my friend. anytime we won anything nice , we never ever tipped the dealer. but made sure we donated 3% of our winnings to redcross or local charities. much better way share your winnings with the underprivilaged ones rather than with Casino Dealers.

sometimes depends on what you win not a percentage.
Win wsop for $10 Million you dont give $1 million
10% way too high even if you won $100 maybe 3-5% and cap at a certain amount maybe $100.

In england never sure what to tip as alot of places automatically add a surcharge to the bill to cover tips etc then screw the waiters over.
Ideally you should be able to tip the waiter/ess who served you and they get to keep it all

A tip is just a courtesy. I don't really believe in tipping every time you win a pot, but I have seen players do it. I would rather just give a tip to the dealer whenever his/her shift ends (depending on if I'm up, of course!).

can you tell me why you think the dealer deserves something in this case?

10% wow, extremely generous of you. Of course, he did not manipulate the hands to give you that St8 fl, and he will have forgotten about your generosity the next time you go to the casino, but hey, if it made you feel good, it was worth it.

i had been talking with the dealer a pretty good bit much through out the night. he told me that he had just put in his two weeks notice with the casino because he was heading to vegas to play the WSOP. i had really forgot they had a promotion going on.

I generally tips 10% on any jackpot. Less if I don't like the dealer for some reason.

Tipping when a Bad Beat Jackpot is hit

So, recently, I was at a cash game listening to an old timer talk about hitting the progressive bad beat jackpot for about $50,000. When another player asked him if he tipped the dealer, he said that he was "taken care of". Just wondering what the standard tip to your dealer would be if you hit for something that big.

well i hit a badbeat at the isle of capri casno the first time i ever played texas holdem and i tipped her with $50, but like always when i play live poker and i win a pot i always give a chip or 2 to the dealer as other players do when they win they get paid , but its not as much as you think thats why they have there own box to put there chips or money in

It was a joyful event at 7:30 in the morning and I was the only one at the table who did not realize what was happening! When it all went down I had quad aces and the other player had kings full of aces and we were playing limit. I was a self-employed dog groomer and when I found out it was a little over 6000 for me and 12000 for the other person I started crying lol !! I had no problem sharing with the dealer who was working the early morning shift when there was only 1 table going, after all if she hadn't been dealing maybe it wouldn't have ended the same way. The only reason I was even at the casino was because I had traveled with my mother from Arkansas to Arizona so she could see an old friend who lived nearby !! We upgraded to a really nice sleeper car for the Amtrac back home and everybody who was at the table with me were very happy !!
