Support at home. Do you have or not?

In the beginning, when I was just interested in poker, I started playing a lot of freerolls. At that time, my wife often quarreled with me about it. However, later, when I started to study the game a bit, when I started to win a little and spend less time on the game, she even started to support me. Now we have everything good at the expense of poker, she knows that I like it and therefore supports me, and I in turn spend more time with her and my daughter !!!!

Hello people. How do you deal with the lack of support from the people who live with you? I think that most suffer from an immense lack of understanding, unfortunately.

Sadly, I do not get much support from my girlfriend. We have agreed I can play 2 nights a week, but when I play for more than a couple of hours, she complains that I give her no attention and that can sometimes put me on tilt a little bit.

I don't expect any support at home, because I am the only family member that play's Poker, I don't really care that much, because Poker is a hobby and I promised my Wife 20 years ago I would not deposit any cash. on any site, and have stood by that promise.
I don't want to make a living from playing Poker, I just want to enjoy the game for what it is, a challenge, like solving a puzzle, in a SnG Game the challenge is to beat 8 other players and be number one, in a MTT game the main challenge is to survive long enough to make the money and eventually the Final Table, it is only then that I start to think about a possible win. but winning money is the furthest from my mind, it is how I play and how long I can survive that really matters.
One of the main reason's I enjoy Cardschat is I can talk with like minded people who are interested in Poker and understand the terminology of the game, if I mentioned "Flop, Turn and River" at home my family would think I am trying to speak a Foreign Language.
I do miss my local weekly Live games, because there I was among Friends who played regularly and enjoyed the game as much as I do, but unfortunately with the recent Covid Pandemic and Lock Downs the games have stopped and it may be a long time before things get back to some kind of normality.
Poker owes me nothing, as I have never paid a penny On-line, and I didn't start playing in Pubs and casinos until I felt I knew enough about the game from my On-line experience to be able to compete with players in live events.
Some people like to go to football matches, or Rugby games, I like to play Poker, and it cost's me less than a ticket to the Cinema, so for 3 or 4 hours I get enjoyment at a reasonable cost, and some times I come back with more money than I left home with.

Nobody really cares in my HH if i play poker or not. I picked it up a few years ago to be more ‘sociable’ with my work collegues. Then came COVID and got introduced to pokerstars! Been playing steadily but i dont deposit stupid amounts, just about 10 to 20 dollars and believe me when i say this it will last me ages! I got introduced to the freerolls and this making my money last longer haha. Just a hobby and not looking to use this to make me big money!

Hi. It is unusual to read about the fact that at home they do not support someone in their endeavors, a hobby. In our family, with these complete understanding and support, unless of course it concerns adequate issues, and not drugs, alcohol and other negative things. If there is no support, then people usually look for an interest support group on the Internet or offline.

Have no home, even i live with relatives. They don't have any support. What they call 'support', it is pure enslaving control mania - not only within relatives. So don't give a sh*t about anybody, even relatives just a bit, because they are 'relatives', but even their opinion don't care at all anymore....

My sister loves playing poker with me, we have home games all the time. Usually theyre for fun but sometimes we mix in some cash. My mom is cool with the gaming part of it but isnt too fond of the gambling aspect. Other than that everyone thinks poker is pretty cool around me.

I live alone, so no support or issues playing. But I generally only play with people I know or if a big tourney then there'll be a couple of people I know in it and we look out for each other and listen to the game summaries. Which helps.

I do not usually pay much attention, in addition to that I do not usually commit to almost anyone of my adventures in poker. better quiet and in due course when the triumphs come good that they know that I play poker, just as almost nobody tolerates the road.

No one cares about poker at home except me. I had an older brother, he was the only one interested in poker. We always argued and discussed the game, but he traveled and now lives in Italy. The most important thing is not to bother me when I play

My wife is completely supportive of whatever I do, including online poker. Of course, she also likes it when I mow the grass/shovel the snow, fix things around the house, go shopping with her, buy her flowers...

Sounds like a smart woman, married to a smart man, personally don't need flowers but, I do hate shovelin snow so anytime you want to stop by during the winter.......

When I was married my wife had no interest in poker, it wasn't a problem however as I was just getting started back in the game & never let it interfere with husband/wife, dad/kid, or responsibilities around the house so no problems. Did have to walk away from the table now & then either in the money or with a stack that was likely to get me to the money, but so it went.
