With three days left to go before the Super Bowl, Rep. Jim McDermott’s (D-WA) opinion piece in Roll Call reminds us that 99 percent of wagers on the game each year are placed illegally – online or with a bookmaker – a situation that leaves millions of Americans unprotected from fraud and abuse.

To improve protections for consumers, Rep. McDermott calls for passage of Chairman Frank’s pending bill to regulate Internet gambling. While it does not yet include regulation of sports gambling, we hope this issue will get more attention in the future.

Thanks,
