I noticed that playing for fun results to my bankroll increase. As soon as I start focusing on money, I lose.
Ever collided?
I only ever play for fun, Money is a poor second place for me. I don't want to win lots of money, just to say I came in 1st place is enough for me, some time's it is also enough if I reach the final Table in some of the bigger tournaments.
I once reached 63rd in a big game where the top 100 got a ticket to a bigger game so in theory I actually won and beat several thousand's of other players all trying to win the Tickets.
I used to play a lot of play money games and noticed I was doing well in the micro-stakes but wanted to get into the High roller games, I did, but noticed I was losing all the time, and when I sat and thought about it, the problem was me! The game was the same, O.K. the stakes had gone up but my playing style had dropped to a more cautious style because of the higher stakes, so I started to play a more aggressive game and started to win again.
When it comes to moving up in Stakes and playing at a higher level you have to be aware that your game does not suffer and you begin to lose more than you win, and forget about the chips you are playing and concentrate on the blinds!
I like many used to play with my chip count showing and when the blinds went up it became frightening how your chips go down in value, So now I only ever play with the BBs showing so that I know how many I have left and when it becomes time to Shove all-in or call those all-ins from other players.
If you scare away from the marginal calls you need to make at certain times it could cost you the game.
When the fun Stops, STOP!
