How about what you see on the news on TV.... do you also take this for fact?
Who knows why one beats & kills one's own parents?? Just because the victims were parents of the alleged accused, does this render them white as snow? Who knows, maybe they raped & beat him throughout his youth, locked in him in the basement, starved him, physically/mentally/& emotionally abused him. I don't know... we don't know. Maybe you'd be jumping to the conclusion of hanging his parents as well if you knew what it was like to live in his shoes?
As far as the death penalty goes & turning this into a political & ethics debate...... let's just say I'm glad I live in a country like
canada (<< we rock!). Death Penalty is inhumane & barbaric. I could only ever see condoning it in the most extreme of circumstances (ie. a person who was a child rapist/murderer, mass-muderer, predator, etc. <<< beyond recovery).
As far as the news depicting the accused as a 'pro poker player' (as opposed to say a milkman).... news is what people want to hear obv. If it attracts the public's attention (and very often if it is something brutal)... sick people want to hear about it. If this guy jumped out in front of a speeding car to save a poodle that day do you think they'd cover it? (maybe if he died gruesomely in the process).
