So as some of you may already know I'll be moving to Florida around the beggining of January. Being a poker player I am interested in seeing if there are any casinos or good places to go. I will be very close to Tampa Bay, and I am basically asking anyone, and their input and opinions. :) ty

The Hard Rock Casino is in Tampa. We used to play there a few times a year.

We have had some loose discussion about a potential small Cardschat meet-up there one weekend after the first of the year.

I believe all the horse racing tracks in florida have card rooms. Double check but I'm 99% sure. Also check out Ante Up magazine podcast, they are based in florida and talk about the casinos down there alot.

Hey, I've been in South Florida for the last few years and am a regular at the Hard Rock in Hollywood.

The poker scene is..bad to be honest. Current state laws limit cash buy ins to $100 max, and limit max under $5 bets. Tournaments are limited to $1,000. These limits don't stop people from playing. There are regularly run 1/2, 2/5, and 5/10nl games at both hard rocks, and most of the parimutuels (dog tracks and poker rooms). There is a lot of talk of this changing and looks like it might happen within the current year.

The Hardrock in Tampa has some decent games. It will probly be your go to place.

Great info, thanks. We get down to St Pete area at least once a year; sometimes twice. I've not really played poker there mostly for lack of knowing where to go (plus other stuff going on while we are in town).

My 2 cents worth would be for Hard Rock Tampa. Only played there a few times, but have been very fortunate and lucky. The poker room seems quite large to me and plenty comfortable. I've only played tournaments and a couple of times they had a huge turnout, 250 plus, $100 buy in. One big cash has kept my poker funded and bought a few toys.
Good Luck
