Poker is a strategy game because, despite what many beginners believe, it is a game where short-term results are less important than decisions to get good long-term results. Also, chance has its share with respect To the results you can be the best of all but if you do not have a bit of luck and intuition you will not get the expected results

I have a friend that's arguing with me saying playing poker is not gambling and he even said investing in the stock markets is not gambling.

I say that poker is gambling. And investing in the stock market is also gambling. The skill involved is calculating risks to see what's your best move. But any game or anything that you're betting money is gambling!
Am I wrong? Please tell me if I am.

And also he said poker is 10% Luck. I strongly disagree with that. If you guys were to calculate the percentage of skill and luck in the game of poker what would it be? I's say it's impossible to calculate the percentage of luck and skill unless you are playing a hand. Then you can calculate the percentage of the skill and luck you need IN THE HAND. But in the whole game of POKER it's impossible to know. Am I also wrong about this?

I completely share your opinion. Of course both depend also on strategy and risk calculation but it is still gambling.

According to most definitions of gambling poker should probably be considered gambling as it is a game of chance and you usually bet money on it.

Easy answer: When I win it's skill, when I lose it's gambling.

ive made the comparison to stock trading and poker because i think they are for all intents and purposes the same in terms of making money. While there are elements of chance, randomness, variance etc. you are trying to gain the most information possible to make as informed a decision as possible. I dont see how someone would be able to claim that poker is gambling while stock trading isnt. Just because one is played in a casino with cards and chips does not make it more like gambling than stock trading.
