If the minimum cost of living in your country is around 100$-200$, then you can easily consider micro-stakes poker as a job ))

And at NL5-NL10 you can easily win 100$-200$+/month if you play tight, patient and careful...

P. S. And select of tables is very important!

Most players are not net winners. So either you have to be smarter than the next guy or work harder.

I play for fun.
To make money you have to spend money and its very high risk.
If i had money ($10,000 at least) spare, to play without affecting my living standards, family and such things. I would give it a shot.
I want to keep enjoying poker so i dont wouldn't like it to become a job.

I'm thinking about poker and many people around the worl play the game to survive. What you think about it?
An extremely small number of people can make a living from poker, and the vast majority live on the hope of making a profit. Many people have poker as a hobby and play for fun.

Definitely not, because of the variance, even if you play your best poker you can end up in bad situations for many, many tournaments in a row.

And the long term may be too long for you to break this variance, until then you may have more loss than profit, causing many to give up on the game.

If the money level you play at matters, I am sure the stress will be a lot different than those playing for fun with disposable bankroll.

But many, many can grind out a +EV in the softest game, upping that level to an above average income level is the challenge.

Playing Poker to survive is a dream that many dream of, but few achieve. If you want to follow this path, start as a secondary source of income. Study hard and learn discipline. If you are very, very profitable... Make a financial reserve of one year's salary and then abandon everything and chase your dream.

Yes, poker is a great opportunity to earn extra money if you know how to exploit your skills at the tables. But never spend more money than you don't have, that's bad for your life.

I don't think it's really possible to make a living from poker in the long term, unless you're a millionaire, or you don't have a sponsor behind you. You may have knowledge and luck, but even then I don't think it will bring you a stable salary... Sometimes you can win big with it, but you'll lose a lot of times, and of course it's enough the process is also time-consuming... So I personally only play as a hobby... ;)
