By the time Ivey and Negreanu are as old as Hellmuth is they'll probably have more cashes than him.

I won't bet on it though 'coz Ivey and Negreanu have reduced the no. of events they play (they're able to bag more $$ by playing cash games than by winning the entire tournaments).

Even if they cut down on their events that they are playing in... They will still probably play more events than was possible in the late 80s and most of the 90s when games were much more reduced.

Hes a has been. He was absolutly a phenom 10 years ago...the game has advanced and he hasnt. I have read his column in Card Player Mag for 10 years now and the only reason he still has a column is because he owns a piece of CP. His columns underwhelm me as they mostly talk about what a great read he made when he sucks out on a modern day good player and what a bad call he made when his hand was dominated. He reminds me of Brett Favre ..just dosnt know when to quit.

79 out of ??? Why doesn't anyone ever keep track of those numbers? If it's 79 out of a small number ... impressive, if it's 79 out of 18302...less impressive.

Dunno the exact number but I'm guessing somewhere in the 500 ballpark? His first bracelet was in 1989 so he's had 20 years since then, they run about 55 tournaments a year these days but it wasn't always that many and he couldn't have entered more than about half of them anyway given that he's a hold 'em specialist and there will be conflicting timetables.

Negreanu's number will be smaller than that and I suspect Ivey's is much smaller. Looking at the percentages would be interesting but I doubt anyone keeps track of all the times they entered but didn't cash.

I hate Phil Hellmuth with a passion. Seems very egotistical to post a fact sheet about yourself when your a poker player. I mean its not like hes looking for a job or anything. I hope to one day play at the same table as him and take his money. To make him lose his mind would bring me great joys.

Hellmuth didn't get nicknamed "The Poker Brat" for his "antics", he earned it because he whines like a ***** every time variance occurs and has the general attitude of a Hollywood Hills 7 year old.

He lacks any class, even when playing against amateurs such as Fishman. Sorry Phil, not everyone is a pro. I would much prefer to watch the "antics" of a Phil Laak, Humberto Brenes, or even Tony G, because they are likable and aren't malicious with their goading. (Except for maybe that rant by Tony G about Russians)

I think as a entrepreneur and competitor, he is good for the sport. But as an example on how to conduct yourself in defeat/victory, and displaying humility he is not. All the kids coming up see Phil act like a moron at the table and think its OK, but its not. People died for doing much less back in the day. Respect the game. The stuff that goes on today at a poker table by comparison would never fly in other traditional class sports such as golf.
