i would definately have to say the matusow was really stupid in this spot.. with QJ out of the way with the paired 6 i think that a call was worth it there.. i mean with the simple bet of 40,000 it was a dramatic and crazy lay down

For a total of eight hands that will beat Matusow's lone Kings. (FWIW, Kaplan's commentary was dead wrong when he stated that the only cards Hellmuth could have that would beat Matusow were AA, QQ or JJ. I think two pair, full house and quads STILL beat a pair.)


Myself, I would have folded after Hellmuth's big raise after the flop. But that's just me.

Its called Ks and 6s, how can you not see that when you point out a full house opportunity. You say any 2 pair beats him but he has the second best 2 pair hand. Please tell me you know that. And Phil damns players who play with 3 of the other hands you mentioned so he definately would not of played those.

Phil re-raised pre-flop. For him that means he has some kind of hand nearly all of the time. With a Q J flop if hellmuth had AA QQ or JJ (which is very possible) then he has Mike crushed. He checks the flop like he wants Mike to bet it for him. Then he bets the turn because if he had a set he'd want some value. When he bets the river he usually has it.

Phil played it beautifully and Mike made a good fold.
