When I say that nobody respects Brazilian poker players, it's because of what happened to me in the last few days. I have noticed that my scheduled game times end up being interrupted by people in my relationship..

There is no respect for my game schedule, I realize that if it were a job and work hours no one would ask for my presence, but as it is my game time they do not respect and ask for help with important things for them but they do not consider how important it is for a poker professional to follow a schedule, be focused, it's like every day a piece of my dreams is erased, that's why sometimes I feel like isolating myself, I know that friendships and family are important, but winning and being a champion is getting the bracelet is also very important to me.

My financial conditions require me to play professionally, but the conditions themselves hinder this evolution, such as breaking the "eggshell" and leaving the "embryonic" format, professional anonymity and being respected, should I play high buy ins and make a big award ?

Sure, go for it if you feel confident enough. I, however, am way too psychologically weak to ever venture into the high roller area; I lost enough money as it is.

If your friends hinder and obstruct you with whatever you're striving for, they can't be called 'friends'.

all our life dreams are full of obstacles and that is necessary to build a solid base, after you reach that base you will reach your dreams. I will be rooting for you. good luck.

I get it, there is less or more understanding in each country or place regarding a game as a way of income, or even as a job.
But it is funny, people in brazil bet on the lottery like crazy, and still think a game as poker, with a market of industry structure so proftable as many areas of work, is only a gambling game like bingo or something.
We are talking in a new era (we can thank the old rich guy Doyle Brunson for building the global show business visibility to the game), as we can dedicate ourselves into studying and developing technique to earn money doing something we like - just like somebody that loves playing a musical instrument earning money throught music.
I already stablished with my collegues of work, friends, wife and family, that poker is a passion for me and its becoming my second way of income. It is important to be open, sincere with the ones we love or lives around us, when we dedicate our time to something that is only an interest to ourselves.

Then so, we can think our routine having an interest like this being respected just as any job we can have

Hey RoviP,

You've probably already thought of this, but I'll say it anyway. I think it's up to you to organize your playing schedule around everything else that's going on in your life. It should be easy when it comes to friends because whoever comes in between you and what's important in your life might not even be considered as a true friend, so you shouldn't bother. But it could be a little tricky when the family gets involved and even difficult if it's the wife. In that case, it becomes crucial that you have a serious talk and put the dots on the "i"s like they say and reach a certain compromise.
lol. when I read the title of your post, I thought you meant people don't respect Brazilian players at the tables 😂🤣 and I have something to say about that too, but it would be out of subject now wouldn't it !?!

I think you need to sincerely talk to your family and friends about your problem. They need to understand how important your goal is to you. And if this is your job, then all the more you need to explain to them how important your time planning is for you.

maybe I misunderstand, is it a job? do they all know that? I would never expect family or friends to know my schedule.
financial conditions require you to play professionally? that doesn't make sense for me.
family and friends are way more important than poker but supporting your family is most important,
so if it is a job then you need to have a spot where you won't be interrupted during game time.
explain it to family and friends and isolate during game time. let the answer message on your phone explain this and let them know
you are not available unless an emergency. just my opinion. best of luck sir :D

My brother, what you should do in my opinion is talk to your family about how important this is to you, talk to your friends as well. Sit down with her and you'll explain why it's important and what your purpose is.
Family and friends are important to us. My family supports me when I play, but that's because I talk mainly to my wife.
A good conversation is always good

I don't think anyone respects any poker player....... I have a cat sitting on my laptop right now just daring me to try and type around him:ROFLMAO:,
kids banging on the door asking me to make them noodles when they just ate 20 minutes ago... does any of that stop me?, NO, is it annoying, YES,
even is this thread I see a lack of respect, don't let it stop you, your time is your own to spend how you see fit regardless of how friends or family think you should spend it, .... at least that's what I tell them lol!

Everybody would agree that being a poker is a risky profession, especially because you're always in need of investing money to get more money back, while most part of the other professions you need to invest only time

Either you want it or not, the only way of showing that poker is a really viable option is through RESULTS

Even if they're not huge results, just by being a lucrative player you can show your graphics to your family and explain to them what your journey is and how are you thinking to evolve

Lastly, some people won't ever accept poker as being lucrative, so you'll just have to accept them

I think my answer is more focused on the title of the post and not so much on what you wrote in the description.

In my personal experience and I try not to generalize, since there are many good Brazilian poker players, but in the vast majority of cases, and in particular in low stakes, most Brazilians play in a very uncompensated way and tend to be too aggressive-maniacs and always want to have the initiative, they generally bluff or bluff all their hands and even go too all-in with worthless hands, it's quite annoying at first since they won't let you play, but when I can identify a Brazilian player with these characteristics I always exploit it, most of the time they end up going all-in with worthless hands and paying with premium hands and I steal their entire stack.

Hi :)
You should continue to go step by step towards your goal and always strictly adhere to bankroll management. Playing with "high buy-ins" will most likely lead to losses and disappointment. Don't destroy your dreams, take your time, step by step, every day, and ignore life's minor difficulties. Good luck.

You need to find a way to not be interrupted while you are playing. Even myself, who at the moment am playing for fun, I find interruptions annoying and game destroying... So find that isolation chamber where you can focus solely on the game. Good luck and may you fulfill your goal!

You tried to explain to those around you these thoughts that you have, they should listen to you, but you also have to do the same! You have to find a balance, becoming alone is not a solution

I don't think regular poker pros get much respect from anyone. For a long time, poker players were considered "degenerates" in North America.
Now, I think players have taken back that insult and wear it like a badge.
I think there is a lot of ignorance about poker. People who don't play, either view it as a just-for-fun pastime, or they see it as a thing like alcoholism or drug addition. They see it as an illness or something to be worried about.
In the UK, I think there was a lot of interest maybe 15 years ago...but these days, I think you're just as likely to be labelled GAMBLER as anything else...so not a tonne of respect here either.
I would be interested to hear a mortgage application meeting at the bank for a poker player who is just getting by... I'llbet banks are not that accepting either.

In your case....As many have said here, this needs to be discussed. Calmly. Clearly. Rationally.
If you're planning to be a pro, you need to have some clarity around that plan. In terms of your bankroll management. Progress. Targets. Etc.
Document it all, track it all. That's how businesses work. They need to know when they're on track for solid profits or whether they are needing to seek external investment.
If you can demonstrate the other side, perhaps people can see how serious you are.

In my opinion, Brazilian players are very good and I respect them. I always see them fighting in big tournaments and final tables. In your personal case, I think you should consider that the people who look for you because they can benefit from you directly cannot be considered friends as such. , but as I say, it is my personal opinion, I think you should continue as you have done so far, if that has worked for you, you should not have to change.
