Some locally based sites are trying to find loopholes-but which citizen wants to be fined up to R10,000,000 or ten years jail to see if government is serious. Not me.

Im hoping for something magical to happen. And I have quite a few dollars on Tilt. Some people have already written that the banks are refusing to accept the cash from any site including Full Tilt for fear of government charging them 10Mill.

Effing sucks.

I can just see you in prison now......

"So.. what are you in for?".... "I killed a man with my bare hands, you?" ... "I raped a woman and beat her dog to death.. hey, new guy, how bout you? What are you in for?" ... Michael says, "I... um... I got caught playing online poker."

Everyone in the prison, "GASP!!!!!!!!!!"

That sucks. Politicians suffer from rectal-cranial inversions all over the world.

I have a friend from South Africa who plays Limit Holdem for a living, so he's moving to Mauritius now. Leaving home would suck (particularly with a newborn), but from the pictures it looks beautiful there.

Same as everywhere. Those who have the gambling consession won't allow others in. Plus they give money to the law makers. Sad buy true.

Latest update from Piggs:

As you are aware we lost our application in the Pretoria High Court regarding the legality of South Africans playing on our Swaziland licensed internet casino which has serious implications for South African players. We are in the process of applying for leave to appeal the judgement and felt that we could continue operating in the interim. We have since been advised that we should stop operating for South African players until the matter has been resolved.

In your interests we have taken a decision to stop operating from midnight Saturday August 28 until application for leave to appeal has been heard and decided upon. All remaining player balances, will be held safely at Piggs Peak Casino Swaziland. You can cash in any balance by e-mailing ***** and your request will be processed.

Yours Sincerely,

Time for a revolution, imo. Too many politicians in the world, let`s guillotine a few. It won`t do them much harm, because they don`t use their heads anyway. ;)

More on withdrawals:

My mail:

Is there a time limit on this?

I would like to wait for the appeal before withdrawing any funds but do not want to lose any money if you are no longer able to pay out after a certain date.

Piggs mail:

Please note that your funds will remain on your account. Whether the casino is online or offline, we are able to withdraw your funds and process to your account. We should have feedback within two weeks or so.

Now silversands:

My Mail:
What is the status regarding the legality of South Africans playing on SS?

What is the process of withdrawal for the next few months?

Their response:

As we are an international company we have clients who are based worldwide.

Players must be at least the age of legal majority or (if higher) over any specified age threshold required to participate in online gaming in or from the jurisdiction in which they reside.

It is the responsibility of all players to ensure that they understand and fully comply with any laws or regulations applicable in their own country or state.

In order to provide a clear view on matters, we can confirm that Silver Sands is indeed fully legally licensed and compliant with all laws regarding online gaming within the jurisdiction which it is based.

My response to their response:

Thanks for not answering my questions.

Please don’t copy paste, I want to know firstly:

Why have you not informed your South African player base?

And secondly:

What happens to my money?

More to come I hope.

"Friday, 3 September 2010

Dear Michael,

This morning we were granted leave to appeal against the adverse judgement delivered by Judge Tuchten in the Pretoria High Court on 20th August 2010.

This good news entitles us to reopen the Internet Casino today in terms of the High Court rules which suspends the previous judgement.

In view of this ruling, there will be an appeal in the Bloemfontein Appeal Court at a future date to finalize the legality of online gambling in South Africa.

Yours Sincerely,

Lew Saul Koor
Operations Director"

Does this mean I can go back to playing on Tilt and Stars? Not sure...
I like the sound of legalising online poker though. In fact I had a thought that they should ban games of ridiculous chance like online slots and make all of them gamblers try some poker for a while. More fish ==== more money in my pocket! lol.

I just took the last of my 5K off tilt and have $0.00 left. Now if they legalize it Im gonna have to win a CC freeroll and build another BR. I like the sound of grinding back up though.NOT!!! Too much self pity and crying at all the bad beats again. lol.

It s funny to realize that your government has the right to draft you for war and send you to death but it doesn t want you to play a money skill-based game

Hi,

Does this mean we can play without fear of prosecution until the outcome of the appeal?

Regards,

If you use an e-wallet so you didn't have any direct transactions between a poker site and a bank, how the hell would the government know what you were doing on the internet?

Trust me, the government controls all.

Trust me, the government controls all.

I do believe government can get a warrant and find out where the money in your bank came from. But really-with all the trouble SA has with serious crime are they gonna make an effort to arresst decent citizens who arent harming anyone? The only thing were harming are the politicians pockets!
