lol. Who have you been playing with
?I think that even my 5-year old sister is a better player than 80% of the online poker population.
So no seriously!Much more donks online than live since they can't make that idiotic call and get away with it without being alienated by the whole table or their friends!
Another edge live are the tells that you have when you're up close and personal!(unlike behind the screen). That's how daniel negreanu makes his reads for instance...
I prefer live personally, but believe me, when you get used to the playing style online and how to play the fishies, you'll make much more money there than live, I guarantee you!
No lol... have you been to a casino or read some of the posts on here about live?
$1/$2 live play is roughly equivalent to 1c/2c online, that alone should tell you how much harder online is. If Sean Pilgrim sees this thread I know he can back me up on this, he's played a lot casino live games at $1/$2 level.
Reasons:
1. Online Poker has a lot of players now playing as their only source of income, US and world economy in general is in the shit right now, lots of people unemployed and are strapped for cash. They dont want to surrender money easily.
2. For that same reason, many people who would simply be free money do not deposit, or only deposit once, lose their cash quickly, and dont have the free money to deposit again.
3. There are only about 45
hands played per hour live, compare that to even just a single table online... way way way more hands. Imagine you have the money and skill to do 2 tables... 4 tables... 16 tables. How many hands an hour are you playing? The point is, people can play way more tight online than live.
Now for the reasons live is so loose.
4. Most people do not go to the casino recreationly, but a lot of people go to a casino every night, its usually always different people though. People go for one reason: to have fun. Is it really that great to lose 200 dollars betting on a flush draw? No, but its exciting!
5. The final reason live is easier than online. Reads, reads, READS.
Online: your opponent makes a flush on the river, you sit there with your set wondering if that river helped him while he dances around in front of his computer thanking the poker gods, before finally raising it big.
Live: Same hand, same situation. Your opponent tries to hide his excitement as his flush hits on the river, he knows you have a big hand, he can feel it. You watch as his eyes widen, and he checks his cards before shakily reaching for chips to announce raise. You notice everything because you've read Read'em and Reap. You call online, you fold live.
Online nowadays you're going to get maybe 2-3 fish in a full ring 25nl, max. You'd be lucky to get one at 50nl (It will probably be the guy who either never deposits again after losing that fifty or some donkey that keeps depositing and knows nothing about BRM). Live I'm pretty sure at a full ring table you'll have 4 fish, 2 okay players, and a few sharks lurking about.
