Yesterday for breakfast, I went to the Peppermill with the amazing Jennifer Newell! I ordered an enormous omelet and managed to finish the entire thing! If you've never been to this place, it's a must for the next time you come to Vegas. Purple neon lights flood the room, and I love the super plush, huge booths.

Then, I got my nails did. ;) My manicurist at the Trump spa, Irena, was super sweet. When she found out that I was a poker player, it turns out that she also knows the gorgeous and kind Lacey Jones. When she finished my manicure, we both agreed that the Tiffany blue color made for “winning nails” which we will see pretty soon as my first event is tomorrow!

When I registered for the wsop Monster Stack yesterday, there were already over 1,500 people registered. I am so excited to get to start with 600 big blinds, and I think this will make for a great tournament! I think that the field is going to be massive—I’ll go on record with a guess of 5,101 players.

Last night, I met up with some of my absolute favorite women in poker, including CardChat’s own Debi! We went to a Pho place (where I ordered pho without noodles—haha) and then to a dive bar.

Friendly bartender to me: “And what will you have?”
Me: “Um, do you have Macallan please?”
Him: “Ha,ha, no, but let me see what I can find.”

He dug around the bottles and did find one little pour of “Cask Strength Macallan” which kind of tasted like scotch mixed with grain alcohol, haha! It is a good thing that he only had half an ounce left! Note to self: do not drink cask strength “neat” in the future. The funniest part was singing along to the perfection that is Sir MixALot's "Baby Got Back."

When I was growing up, I lived in Athens, Georgia for about 4 years. When I hang out with my favorite Georgia peach, Debi, and add alcohol, I start speaking with a southern accent! I’m pretty sure I also said “Ya’ll” more than a few times!

Today I’m venturing back to where I used to live in Vegas, before another fun meet up (minus the cask strength scotch) with the ladies! This time I promise to get pictures. :)

Did she sweet-talk you into staying for Little One Drop yet?? :deal: If not, then let's keep those bartenders busy! :D

You have to admit it's an incredible deal to play the tourney.

I am working on it!

+1 Gosh, for some reason, I thought that you had already snagged her, Debi!

Really enjoying your adventures, Katie. You have a real gift for painting your journey and letting us ride along with you across the virtual ink.

Wishing you and Debi the very best ;)

Great thread Katie and best of luck. Would love to get to Vegas one day but until then it's great reading threads like these, almost like being there in person.

Who knows? My youngest son 16 y/o says he'll try to get me there for my 50th Birthday, only 7 years to wait :D

It is absolutely incredible! I'm hoping that I can stick around. Debi is so sweet that she is almost impossible to say no to!

Many thanks to you for this super sweet compliment! :D

Today I'm playing my first event of the WSOP this year, and it looks like that guess I had of over 5,000 players has already been smashed! Collin waited in line for a long time and then stone bubbled being able to register for the first flight, so I guess that means I have to win! ;)

Luckily I registered early, so I am heading to a breakfast with my Mom (hoooray!) before heading over to the Rio! :)

So I looked at: http://www.wsop.com/2014/live-video/2014 WSOP Live Streaming Schedule.pdf and at your first post and using my second to none deducing skills, I managed to determine that you will be playing #47, #51, #53 and #56, is that correct? The streaming begins after the final table is reached so you have to let us know when that happens (because it WILL happen, right Katie? :)). I'm sure the entire CC would love to cheer on you in front of their computer screens. GL :)

Remember how I said at the beginning of this thread that my favorite day ever playing poker was two years ago? Well, I just may have topped that yesterday in the Monster Stack. My table was extremely sweet, and included Lee Childs as well as many new friends I made at the table. What really made it so special though was that my Mom came to watch me play. It was the first time she has ever seen me play live poker, and she picked a crazy day at the Rio for it!

My estimate that the field would be huge was right, but it has way more than the 5,101 I guessed! The parking lot was jam-packed, and I felt like a salmon trying to swim upstream while navigating the hallways!

The slight bummer was that the massive crowd made the WSOP change the restart for day two to 3PM and that 9 levels were to be played instead of 11, which meant that my chances of making day two were higher, and that it was way more unlikely that I could make day two of the Monster Stack and still play the ladies.

Another change was that the 90 minute dinner break was cancelled. Since I am the luckiest girl in the world though, Collin and my Mom actually brought me a really nice plate of lox, roasted chicken, and cheese on one of the breaks!

After some ups and downs, I ended the day with 19k, and it was fun to bag chips in my first WSOP tournament of 2014. Also, I am sure that Debi is going to win the WSOP Ladies anyway, so maybe it’s not so bad that I have to miss it since the best I could hope for would be 2nd place!

It's awesome to see what looks like a CC hoodie.... however, isn't Vegas a tad warm to be wearing it outdoors? I imagine indoors it might be acceptable due to mass AC.

P.S. Good luck at the Monster Stack Day 2!

She was probably still thawing out from the Siberian-like casino temps. :p

The day started off with a perfect plan:

Unfortunately, things didn’t really go my way. I got away with a lot of 3bet shoves, but eventually the hijack (who covered me) raised, and I shoved 20bbs in the big blind with queens. He asked for a count and called after a bit. Considering that I had 3-bet shoved many times, I was kind of surprised that it took him a while to call with AK, but I guess that is something that I’m not used to since I play stacked tables online and therefore don’t notice when someone is tanking. I lost, but I was touched by how vocally some of the players on the table were rooting for me.

I could have late regged the ladies after I busted, but I would have only had 15 big blinds—which felt like too much of a gamble for a $1k tournament.

Plus, I got to hang out with my Mom and friends!

I also stepped foot in the Luxor for the first time, to a restaurant called Tender. The place is a lot more reasonably priced than some of the trendier steakhouses on the strip, and I had a trio of game: elk, boar, and osso bucco.

Next, we went to play pool at my favorite shady cue club. We played in pairs, so I picked Kevin O’Leary, since he used to be a pro and is the best player I’ve ever watched in person!

Needless to say, my team crushed—even when Kevin started to play one-handed!

Next up is the WSOP $1,500 today! :)

Wait, not "Mr. Wonderful" Kevin O'Leary, from Shark Tank? lol :p

Haha, thankfully not the same person!

Yes, that would be ideal! Yesterday I busted the 1500 close to midnight with about 500 left (250 cash), so I must be saving it up for today!

That's the GL I needed, thanks! :)

Today's the $1K, hoping to make a deep run in what might be my last WSOP tournament of 2014.

I did a quick interview with the amazing Mark Hoke! My little interview starts about 142 minutes in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AecAJKoWKiM
