Well I guess I'll give a short life story. I dropped out of college because even though I can't figure out what I want to do with my life, what I do know is my college doesn't have what I want to do. So instead of rushing into something else I decided to take a semester off and do I guess what you call some soul searching. My problem is I have a passion, but I can't really figure out how to connect my passion with school. Obv I'm talking about poker. I have the freedom and would absolutely love to be in Vegas for this years wsop. Even if I had a job setting up tables, or really anything at all, I know it'd be a great experience, open up a lot of doors, and hopefully help me figure out what to do with my life. So if you have any ideas or connections it'd be greatly appreciated if you could help me out in any way.

Thanks,
Nate

gl with this. most likely u will want to learn how to play SNGs profitably (watching videos on deucescracked, reading harrington on hold em, etc) and then go during WSOP-time and grind live satellites (they're really soft, and if u win a seat, u can just sell it and play another one). i've heard people make a killing doing this

You could try being a dealer. According to wsop.com, they will start looking for dealers in February. I have no idea if you need experience, but I'm sure it would help. Maybe try to get a job as a dealer right now if you have a local casino close by.

if you're serious then you need to move. simply getting a job during the wsop won't open as many doors as you think since its a sea of people. Sure come get a job for it (as vanquish said they look soon), but that'll give you some start-up money to stay here, and that is when you can start making contacts, but playing as a regular here, not just another fish in the sea.

Nate,
You may want to contact CardPlayer or PokerNews about being a reporter/intern during the WSOP. The hours are long and I don't even know if they pay anything, but imagine being inside the ropes counting the chip stacks of pros and reporting them back to the blogs. It certainly would qualify for putting you in/around the WSOP and it wouldn't require you to have any buy ins. I'm just not sure what their process is for selecting the people who report. But maybe if you look into it now, you can get your foot in the door.

Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Consider also the Gaming Life Expo - going on roughly the same time as the WSOP. Unfortunately, the 2008 website is not showing up when I go to Harrahs entertainment.

Great advice so far guys, much appreciated. I'm gonna keep researching and I'll let you know if I ever get anything to work out. I really liked the card player/poker news internship idea.

I for one, hope you go back to school and finish. It won't take you that long. Poker is going to be here after you graduate, it's not going anywhere.

Just my 2 cents.

They take dealers from the WSOP Circuit before a stranger and there are a lot of WSOP Circuit dealers out of work. Not much chance of you being a WSOP dealer. Very little chance of you working for the Rio in the capacity of anything other than WSOP store cashier at the venue. No exp necess for that. NO CRIMINAL BACKGROUND allowed. I'm not saying you have a crim background, but if so, don't waste your time.
