Definitely u can earn money playing poker, but that depends on your skills in the game and how u manage your bankroll. As a beginner in the online poker world i suggest u to play low buy-in tournaments like BIG 0.55$ - 3.30$, or if you are a cash game player play some low blinds like 0.25$ - 0.5$. Play tight and aggressive, and never be the donkey on the table. There are lot of courses online and books where u can learn from them, and become a good online poker player.

It seems to me all individually. Whether it's a tournament or a game cache with 6 or 9 players, and so on. You can raise money where you feel comfortable. But even then there will not be 100% of victories.

The most important thing you can do to succeed in poker is practice good bankroll management. Do your research and stick to proper guidelines for the format and stakes you play. If you gamble with your bankroll and play at stakes too high for your roll, you will end up broke again and again. Play at stakes you know you can beat and don't move up until you have enough buy-ins to do so.
