Hi guys,

Does your family members know that you are playing poker to make some money? If yes, how did you tell them? I've been hiding it for several years until they found out that it's because of poker where I lost all my savings and in debt.

They don't like gambling at all, they hate it so much. But, I don't know how to describe or explain to them why I choose this path. Its really hard for me.

I didnt need to tell my family anything about poker, gladly. And i play for fun...

In your case, i see you play as a way for making money and you are in hard times.

That being said, if your family members are concerned about your debt and savings, it may be helpful to sit down with them and have an open and honest conversation about your financial goals and how you plan to manage your money while playing poker.

At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide how much you want to share with your family about your poker playing.

Just remember to be responsible. If you are losing that much may be a big sign for you to take a break or stop.

I went through similar times and took a break from playing as a HighRoller and started playing in lower-tier tournaments so that my savings wouldn`t be harmed that bad. Good luck getting back at it, and when talking to family members, connect poker with the strategy behind the game and the psychology behind that strategy. It might help in showing them a different perspective on the game itself.

Ive been playing poker since college so that was 13 years ago and I can say I made some profit for those times. But year 2022-2023 is a bad run for me. I lost so much money and thank you for telling me to quit. I appreciate that and I feel your concern. I

I dont know, but quitting is not an option for me right now.

I love playing in the high stakes since it gave me so much adrenaline rush!

If you don't control the game and the money you lose, you have a real problem. As long as it's not a financial problem and it's under control, it's ok, but you already have a serious problem and it's worth consulting a specialist before you lose anything more than money.

Its controllable now. I'm trying my best not to deposit on my account and trying to play freerolls as much as possible. My situation is worst more that I could explain. But right now, Im more open to talk about especially with my families and relative friends.

My relatives know that I play poker, but I play small stakes and try to control my bankroll.

Hello
I also had a similar tendency this winter but entering this different world for me compared to what I was used to, I saw that I can still exercise my passion for the game.
I feel safe here, I only play freerolls and I think that's enough, I already have a program in the evening where I can make a modest bankroll when I'm in good shape.. I still haven't managed to reach the final table at the cardschat tournaments as I used to like 15 years ago in micro, but I feel good.
I also have a problem with my family, almost everything revolves around me and robs me of the time that I always hope to dedicate to poker in the evening, even if I have started the game I often find that I have to do something else
I have hidden until now how much money I put into poker😇😇😇. but we have to self-correct and make our lives more beautiful. Good luck!

Please, please learn more about bankroll management. Chasing the high can be a sign of a behavior that you can't control. Be honest about whether you are spending what you don't have, just to try and chase the money and hope to win big again. I can easily imagine how those who love you would worry about this.

My family didn't like it when I played a lot of online poker, not because of the finances but because it meant I was playing poker instead of doing other things with them.
