Game is always evolving, to keep up you are learning as you go. Not going to attempt to self categorize in a five point score card.

By official experience I'd put myself down as a rookie player. Have never played a high stake tournament, only low. The highest buy in I have played is $20. Haven't won a large amount but know my way around the game.

Its like golf... ive been playing for years, but still have a 20 handicap...

I don't mean to brag but I definitely don't lack the experience, I've been playing poker for most of my life and it turns out that I can whoop my friends with ease.

However I don't bet big or much at all. So all in all I would declare myself to be a very good player, with very little cash experience.:D

I don't know how to decide. What would you base each of the 5 levels on?

I would consider myself on level 2-3, altough I am playing already since some years, but only in my free time after work or at the weekends. Therefore, I think, there is still a lot to learn and to improve for myself.

Haha.. that's a good one.
Should be linked to a next Poll:
"How you rate your Ego from 1 to 5:
  1. Poor.
  2. Intermediate.
  3. Tough to handle with, but I keep trying.
  4. It's taking control over my consciousness.
  5. I'm under it's steel feet. Feels like Napoleon of Poker! Mwahahaha!
P.S. By the way, did you ever heard about, if you actually start to think you are good at something, it's actually a very bad sign. At that point you are stop learning anything new and regress is about to start off.
So it's a right way to think you're somewhere between 1 and 2 even if you're beating high stakes, IMHO. ;)

What a diplomatic way NOT to answer the question yourself :D

As for the OP, I would rate myself between 3 and 4 in live poker, and probably 3 in online poker. I am basing this on my stats, being in profit from the first day I started playing poker which is not something many amateurs can say for themselves. Aside from that, my general percentages are good - % of MTTs I finish ITM, ROI etc...

Also, because I don't want to turn poker into a way of living and a base source of income, I feel that in time, I will play less poker which will cause my skills to decrease. That is still ok for me, since I want poker to stay a hobby and a fun way to spare some free time :)

2- Intermediate player
3- Good player :)
4- Very Good player :D
5- Expert player

Without modesty, expert player.
But I don't have the time or resources to try / risk and build a career.

I think I am between 2 and 3. I would say that I am good if I was more profitable but....!

Definitely a poker rookie, any player can easily tear me apart in a poker game. But without the certainty that I am going to improve to achieve what I want in poker by winning an important event one of these days. Good luck at the tables !!!

I feel like I am a good amateur. I still have a lot to learn but I feel like I play good poker usually and make good calls/raises/folds. Usually in a tournament when I am eliminated it is me starting out ahead and someone drawing out on me or catching a lucky river. I dont usually go all in or call and end up behind from the start.
