I think it is impossible to become an elite player on your own, for this you need to have the talent of a chess player.:(:)

Becoming an elite poker player can be challenging and requires a combination of skill, dedication, and hard work. Here are a few factors to consider:

-Skill: Poker is a complex game that requires a good understanding of math, psychology, and strategy. It takes time to develop these skills and to learn how to apply them effectively at the poker table.

-Dedication: Becoming an elite poker player requires a high level of dedication and a willingness to put in long hours of practice and study. It can be a demanding and time-consuming pursuit, and it may be necessary to make sacrifices in other areas of your life.

-Hard work: In addition to practicing and studying, professional poker players must also put in the hard work to find and take advantage of profitable opportunities. This may involve playing in a variety of different games, traveling to different casinos or online poker rooms, and constantly adapting to changing market conditions.

Overall, becoming an elite poker player can be difficult, but it is also rewarding for those who are able to succeed. If you are considering pursuing poker as a career, it is important to be realistic about the challenges and to be prepared to put in the necessary time and effort to succeed.

It will be difficult without the assistance of a teacher. But I don't think it is impossible, as long as the person is constant and persevering and wants to learn only by watching material on the Internet since there is a lot of free material

You don't need to be an "elite" player to do well in poker.

Just play play folks on YOUR level then learn how to beat them then move on to the next level and the next level.

If you play online then you grind freerolls and low stakes then figure out how to extract what you want out of that group and move up. Its the same if you play live.

But you have to keep track of all of it and then figure out if its all worth it.

I think to be an "elite" player one must be recognized as one, which means to get recognized and then do some kind of Rampage move and become "elite". To be successful in poker is much more gratifying, imo. The game is stressful enough.

I don't know about elite but even becoming a winning long term player at online micro/low stakes who actually cashes money out(leaving some in for a bankroll) spends it and doesn't have to re-deposit is a lot more hard work and study then most people are willing to do and do at their day jobs. For the majority being a winning player is impossible because they can't do the following: manage a bankroll, have good mental toughness/tilt control and patience. Those 3-4 things the majority of the human race isn't capable of. Which means they can even beat 2nl or 5nl.

Sadly it's not gonna get any better or easier for future generations either considering how little useful things in real life schools actually teach now. People graduate high school and can't even do a basic tax form(they need software) or pay some money to do their taxes lol. Majority don't even know how debt, credit cards/interest works, can't/don't know how make a budget/stick to it and can't even balance their own chequebook. These type of people have ZERO chance of ever being long term winning players at any stake level.

Cheers!!!

Becoming an elite poker player involves a combination of skill development, strategy refinement, and psychological mastery. Focus on studying the game, analyzing hands, and practicing regularly. Additionally, work on understanding opponents, managing emotions, and maintaining discipline. Joining a poker community and seeking mentorship can also accelerate your progress. Consistent learning and experience are key to reaching an elite level in poker.

To become an elite player I believe you have to study a lot, in addition to playing a lot to acquire practice

The least a successful player needs to do is: study daily with support software, solve the hands that you marked during the session because you had doubts and practice a lot.

I would estimate that at least 95% of people who play this game will never make significant life changing money in poker. In fact, most of them won't even win at all.

This is just the cold hard reality of the game.

First you have to be financially independent, so you can dedicate entire time for poker.
Second, you need to want it 110 percent.
Finally, you must have the brain and character traits needed.

Becoming an elite poker player takes dedication, continuous learning, and a strategic mindset. Here are some steps I'd recommend:
  1. Master the Basics:
    • Ensure a solid understanding of poker rules, hand rankings, and basic strategies.
  2. Study and Analyze:
    • Dive into advanced poker literature, watch high-stakes games, and analyze professional play.
    • Utilize software tools to review and analyze your own hands and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Develop a Solid Foundation:
    • Work on your fundamentals – position play, hand selection, and bet sizing. These are the building blocks of elite play.
  4. Understand Opponents:
    • Learn to read opponents. Pay attention to their tendencies, betting patterns, and body language to make informed decisions.
  5. Adaptability is Key:
    • Be adaptable to different playing styles. A rigid approach won't cut it at the elite level; you need to adjust to opponents dynamically.
  6. Bankroll Management:
    • Manage your bankroll wisely to withstand inevitable swings. A disciplined approach to money management is crucial.
  7. Continuous Learning:
    • Stay up-to-date with evolving strategies. The poker landscape changes, and staying ahead requires a commitment to ongoing learning.
  8. Mental Toughness:
    • Develop resilience. In poker, you'll face both ups and downs. Maintaining focus and composure during tough times is crucial.
  9. Play Consistently:
    • Regularly play against tough competition. The more you challenge yourself, the faster you'll improve.
  10. Networking:
    • Connect with other skilled players. Share experiences, discuss hands, and engage in poker communities to gain valuable insights.
  11. Stay Humble:
    • Even elite players can learn. Be open to constructive criticism and always strive to improve.
  12. Live and Online Play:
    • Excel in both live and online environments. Each has its nuances, and being versatile is a hallmark of elite players.
Remember, achieving elite status in poker is a journey, not a destination. It takes time, dedication, and a commitment to constant improvement. Keep honing your skills, stay patient, and enjoy the process.
