It certainly can come to mind on a long cooler; or when you invest hours in a tourney and j4 takes your Kings down and the hand should have never been in the pot to begin with.

Many times but the game is still fun. I like playing in casinos and usually do well. Taking breaks always help.

I had such thoughts to quit poker and I did not play for some time, but I got so used to the game that I was drawn to the game and I play again in my free time, it happens to me that when I lose somewhere for a while I have thoughts to quit the game and do something else!

I have taken breaks (just back from another long one actually) but I've never contemplated quitting entirely.

For me, it provides an element of constant learning. Unlike many other games poker is an open world, of ever-changing options. I believe it's one of the best methods for keeping one's mind sharp and focused.

I stopped many times and played briefly on and off for the last few years after losing due to tilt and improper bankroll management (and believing the game was rigged for me to lose all the time lol).

After doing extensive research on those two aforementioned subjects and everything else surrounding poker (books, articles, videos, poker software, training sites, etc.), I decided to get back into this past summer and have been saving up for a bankroll and grinding freerolls in the meantime occasionally playing real money won from freerolls. I don't see myself ever quitting again this time unless it ever develops into a problem although I will take occasional breaks from time to time.

I have not only thought about quitting poker, I quit. I was a regular player at full tilt poker, right up until poker stars took it over. :hmpf: Then Poker Stars started accusing me of having multiple accounts (I didn't and I proved it) but, before I knew it, they closed my account - and stole my bankroll! :damnmate:

I've cooled down a bit since then, and I'm back at the tables, but I still have hard feelings against Poker Stars.

♪ Well, if you told me you were drowning. I would not lend a hand... ♫

Quitting never crossed my mind, but that's mostly because I don't get to play as much as I'd like. I played a lot of cash games years ago before I got married and had a daughter. I now generally only make it out to casino tournaments a handful of times a year, plus I'll do a handful of private games and my company's annual tournament. PA will have online poker starting up this year, so I'll definitely get involved in that.

This is just like thinking about... quitting smoking, except quitting smoking could prove a lot easier.
Many will say it's not true, and i'm not here to judge, but i think we're all kind of "addicted", and for some, it's even worse... when it stops being about the money.
Sure, fame and all that matters too, but it's the money we're mostly after, because money will inevitably bring us the fame.
A player who's on a loosing streak will always think about quitting, just so he can cut his losses, but in the end, the thought he could recover... is stronger and will make him try again.
...one who's winning, will also think about quitting, but then again... to what end, especially if he's making a living out of it.
We may quit for a while, but at some point, we come back. In the end, it boils down to controlling it.

Everyone goes threw slumps and discouragement when facing down swings and when you think the run good has just stopped coming. I for one just try and push threw it and use lots of prayer and family time to balance my emotions and focus.

I think about it all the time. Precisely, all my sessions in a room. When my cards are run over, I plan to close a poker client and delete it:mad::mad::mad:

hard days of poker

I thought, and often, especially when you play a large and numerous tournament and take off, not reaching 6-12 places to the initial level of the prize money. Especially when at the end during the opening of your pot of aces 7-8 unsuited people move .but you find the strength to come back - just because you like the game:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
