Glad to hear it's going well. Starting from zero is tough, though, and unless absolutely necessary I'd actually recommed against it. Why? If you can deposit even a small amount you can progress MUCH faster than starting with nothing. I'm going to use Tcummo's post as a reference (hope that's OK, Tcummo)....

Full tilt BR (pre BF) = $267 +
Carbon BR = $91 +
Black chip = $36 +
Not fantastic amounts of money , but all from zero
(no deposits).
It's a slow grind , but lots of fun.
The 'tortoise and the hare' comes to mind , I think I'm a tortoise ,
which one are you ?
good luck OP.

Impressive. Totally serious. Those are actually impressive numbers and achievements for starting from nothing. Now.... Lets look at my case (I'm an average player, at best, and I'd be willing to bet Tcummo is probably better than me, but here we go..... (Oh these are are pre-BF, too, just like Tcummo's).

January....First ever deposit (and ONLY deposit, until I quit due to black Friday and had to re-deposit to get started again 9-10 months later). Anyway, here goes....

January...deposit $50 on pokerstars. By Christmas, total from that $50 deposit is over $1200. Withdraw all but $50 and go on vacation to see family I've not seen in years, leave $50 on site to start new year off with. This time I hit $950 by summertime and withdraw most all of it again for a vacation. Leave $50. By Christmastime I'm back to around $1000. No need to withdraw this time so I "let it ride" Black friday hits.... pokerstars balance $1350.

So, as you can see, by starting with just a relatively small, one-time deposit I was able to earn signifcantly more than Tcummo. Am I better than he? I doubt it....I just had the advantage of startring from "more than zero" and my balance grew exponentially faster because of that.

Now, I really do admire people who can, and do, start from zero and become a success. But, I just wonder why they do it unless there really is no other option.

if you have rakeback on one merge account and not another, and the same game plays on both skins , its better to play on the skin with rakeback.
you will get a portion of the entry fee for tournaments, and a portion of the rake you pay for cash game back. approx 30% is avg. the money isnt much but will add up over time.

+1 BigRudy... Even though I'm still grinding, when you look at why deposit from how you've expressed it, this point will stick to me when/if I eventually get fed up or have learned the essentials of what I still don't know yet... You got me thinking even now...

I have a few different hurdles to depositing, first being I live in USA and have no desire to deposit somewhere then have to fight to get a withdraw. I also have no bank account I know, sounds shady it's not really I just haven't had a need for one for quit some time. I really don't know the safest way to deposit. I have a green dot card (prepaid re-loadable visa) but am hesitant to give that info online to a poker site. All that being said where and how do smart US players get started online post BF.

Yeah the steps. I have built up a little then lost it on those crazy $0.11 SnG's. I am now trying the micro limit tables. How are you doing?

Great explanation of why to deposit. As for building from nothing, Hero poker might be your best bet, and even better if you give in to a minimum deposit then you have access to constantly running freerolls with $2.50 for first and 24 or 27 people.

$14.83 as of today. I was grinding the micros, then decided to try a fast fifty and won it. It was out of my BRM technically I guess but when you have been hovering at around $3.00 for as long as I had well I though I would take a shot. I have been climbing steadily since then. Looking forward to seeing you at the tables Reptar7.

Have a similar set of bankrolls on 3 sites built from no deposit.

Have no pretensions to being any better than that but fire up five or six sessions per day and have a lot of fun.

For me poker is relaxation, mental stimulation and fun.

When I want to bet serious amounts I sports bet, and with good stable information in the summer I will back horses.:icon_sunn
