Every player who sits down to play understands that he can lose his money, so I leave pity on the table.

for me it is a game in which there must be a winner who wins money and the one who loses, and no matter how you play aggressively or passively, for me there are different moments in the game I sometimes play passively and it happens that I play aggressively, I have a goal in the game so that try to win over others and make a profit in the bankroll, I will not argue and the players who just go to spend time and there are players who try to win and earn money in the game and they do not care how to play and how to withdraw money from other players, I'm in the game that to win!

I look at poker as entertainment. If I lose a preset amount, fine, no big deal. I don't go to the movies, or really spend my extra money on anything. But it's always extra money, nothing that will affect bills or obligations. For the most part, lol.

I feel the same way. I have extra income after everything is paid. I dont play cash games much, too easy to go broke. I like to play so MTT's are fun. Sometimes you get lucky and place in the money to help subsidize your bank roll, sometimes you lose. No big deal. I would like to think I am not addicted but probably am, just know how to be responsible and play within my means. But whenever someone asks what I am doing. The same response, playing poker. Is that all you ever do? Yep, when I am at home, there is always a game to play. :D:D:D

I can not comment on online as there you do not really know who is on the other side but playing live i have not seen addicted gamblers playing poker. Or at least they do not look and play like such to be easily distinguishable. Saying that i have only played in big casinos in my country and most of the gamblers are not there but in the local game clubs in the neighborhoods playing slots, roulette or any other game where skill is not involved. My impression is that gamblers really do not like poker too much.

If i am on the same table live with person who is clearly gambler - it is difficult decision how to proceed. If it is tournament i will play because my tournament life is involved. If it is cash game i may switch to another table.

It's a serious problem, but it's hard to identify this online... it is up to each to reflect on their actions and seek help.

I personally have never had an issue with gambling addiction, but like many have been touched by its effects on others I have been around. Its sad when a person gets to the point of lying and stealing just to play there next game. When faced with an issue like this, I feel for those that have had to meet this issue head on.

Gambling Addict

How much of an addict are you? Does it depend on the money you lost or the amount of time you spend chasing your loses?

I was also a ludoman, but I was able to pull myself together and stop playing when I lost my salary in a casino, then my family was very offended and stopped talking to me.

I realized I was addicted to poker when I was playing on the Xbox and I was about to won 120million dollars in one hand and my mom accidentally hit the switch while cleaning and shut the Xbox off and it cleared everything!!! I was in tears and I was beyond pissed about it. I had gotten so bad by the time I turned 15 that I carried around a deck of cards and my chips in my backpack.

I wonder what are your experiences with this issue. The dark side of this beautiful game. Taking money from people who have no control over themselves when they play. Easy money ? People who can afford to lose and those who are drowning in debt and borrowing more to play?
My personal opinion is that at the table I have no mercy. I will take everything you have and more. Off the table I will tell you to get help because you have a problem.

Not my problem. If I do not take their money, someone else surely will. Never have felt bad about it. Never will.

Of course, any addiction is not good, but as i know, most of the time people are addicted to much worse things, like online casino and so on, where you can loose lots of money in a really fast time.
Sure, if you can,t control yourself, just don,t start to play.

use of tilt

This is a difficult question, but if a person sits at the table, it means that he is ready to lose. If you regret the weak players and deliberately lose them, you will soon get into debt. You play at your full strength and it is not your fault that these people do not they understand their weaknesses in the game. Of course, you can somehow try to make them understand that they are now a bit inadequate and they should not continue to play. But if they continue, then this is their problem. And it is not our fault that they lose more and more. Do not force them to withdraw from the table. I think you just need to play on your maximal strength regardless of external situations.:icon_rr::icon_rr::icon_rr:

Honestly, poker is a game full of poison, for you to win, someone else hаs to lose and that's pretty bad if you become very rich from poker you have been making many people poor

Respect and good game

Your thinking coincides with mine as well. In recent materials I have been studying more experienced and intelligent players take advantage of those who are emotionally uncontrollable and bet stupidly. for these people who are borrowing my good news is that they can still have their turn. Control and planning to improve your game.

Its their money..

Its their money to gamble, but gambling addiction is not good. If you do know an expert in the addiction field, consult with them, they would be able to see what the signs are, what steps to take.

I'm a recovering Alcoholic and Drug Addict, got sober 31 years ago. I guess you could say I'm addicted to poker, but only play freerolls and Micro Tournaments. Don't have a problem when I go to a casino once or twice a year. I play cheap slots and a $65 buy-in tournament. I guess I'm addicted more to money than gambling.;)

I'm aware of both sides of this coin. If someone has a problem and I am aware of it before I play then I refuse to play against that person. Desperation is not a nice thing to encounter and it is better aid than abet...(puns intended). If you ever find that you are risking money without caring or feel that you can win big bucks if only you had enough money and time in the "short term" then beware because these are two big red flags. Either play to win ethically and to the best of your ability or roll them Karma dice...
