If america tax poker other governments may follow. the Uk currently does not tax poker we don't want this to change. all I want is all the bad fishy players from america that think ace high is never ever ever ever foldable no matter what, and any pair or draw is worth an all in to return to online poker. These guys are very much missed by the whole poker community and be very warmly welcomed back should they ever be able to return.

We want to be back as well, though you will most likely have to come to the States in order to play against US Players.

The U.S. govt wants all the money it can get from something they can't control. Before all the s#%t hit the fan on bf, the gov't wants to treat internet poker like the mafia did with bootleg shine back in the days.If they aren't making money off of it it's not going to happen.
Pari-mutual wagering tax rate for anything over 300x the base bet which the state and gov't takes out 28% total. If they do this in OLP i think it will all but dry up what is left to the US market.

You all have some great points and I myself like many of you feel it will be back and heavily taxed at time of depoisit as well as on winnings, but we all should remember the saying BECAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, YOU JUST MIGHT GET YOUR WISH! And what I mean is anytime we allow more big brother in our lifes the less of a life we have. example health ins. or obamacare! And someone here said something about other countries jumping on board and start taxing poker ,with the WORLD ECOMONY the way it is I'd say thats not far off either. The U.S. isnt the only gov. looking for ways to make money. And poeple who have money to gamble have money to pay taxes in thier eyes!

Everything needed to effectively govern and control online poker already exists. Billions, if not trillions of dollars move each day through internet transactions in the US right now. Banks, brokerage firms, mutual funds, etc. all use the internet to make it easy for their customers to do business with them. All of those financial services companies have very strict "Know Your Customer" regulations to prevent money laundering and abusive trading practices. They all must track individual earnings for tax reporting purposes.

Long story short, the technology exists right now to satisfy all of the concerns the government might have with online poker. No one will have to re-invent the wheel to make it safe and profitable for everyone.

That's right. But that only means that poker-rooms have to do something extra with their marketing strategies to lure bigger amounts of new recreational players into poker. The ecosystem is cyclical, many grinders are leaving the trade and leave open spaces for new guys.

my biggest fear also is the state and federal gov. will take a good thing and ruin it. kinda like everything they seem to touch these days.
in my state of california they originally thought the idea of pooling players between several states via nevada was a good idea. but give politicians and special interests groups mostly the indian casino lobby some rope and yep, they'll ruin it. a already tax crazed state hungry to fill cofers would chase me away.

Really, bc my local schools are worldclass...

My home state's premier state run university is world class...

Our nation's army is the finest in the history of modern warfare....

Our environment has significantly improved for over 100 yrs now largely bc of regulation by govt....

I could keep going, but really ive made my point.

Im tired of Limbaugh parrots pretending like govt. is the enemy while the rich cackle at the useful idiots and pay 13% effective federal income tax.

You can keep saying govt. is the problem, but guess what, im going to keep confronting you and your ilk.

Have a BLESSED day, lol.

Your president just had yet another extension passed for Unemployment. A program designed to help transition from job to job paid for by the employed. The system is meant to be used for usually 13-15 weeks Maximum.

Economists warned that long-term unemployment could be transformed in the next few years into structural unemployment, meaning that the problem is not just too few jobs and too many job seekers, but a large group of workers who no longer match employers’ needs or are no longer considered employable.

“Skills become obsolete, contacts atrophy, information atrophies, and they get stigmatized,” said Harry Holzer of Georgetown University.

Not to mention who the F&%$ is going to play for 1/10th of our country sitting at home, making a paycheck without having to work and WHAT exactly is their motivation TO work?

Our current path is unsustainable, period. Its basic enon101, We cant just keep writing checks, borrowing from China. Eventually they ware going to FORECLOSE.

Man, no wonder he got reelected. You dangle "freebies" to the right crowd, and hell yea they'll come out in droves to vote for ya.

I agree, no more phony wars of choice, no more new toys for the Pentagon, no more corporate welfare in the billions for industries like oil that rakes in more money than any on going concern on earth....no more subsidizing the inheritances of the rich by not taxing investments that largely arent effectively staying in the domestic economy anyway, no more banks that crow about capitalism and then rely on handouts when they make bad bets, no more freeriding on SS for those that make over 110k/yr, no more SS for millionaires unless they need it....same with medicare.

No more AMA monopolizing how many doctors we graduate....

No more uneven funding of public schools....

Have fun watching Reagan's America being dismantled piece by piece over the next 20 yrs.

The old silent majority stopped having kids, and Juan, Pablo and Manuel will make Tejas blue by 2016 and then the real fun begins. Im not interested in ridiculous arguments with mind dead republicans anymore...I realized there is no curing stupidity/their old south type cracka mentality that idolizes the monied and works against its own economic self interest....and they have no cure for demography.

Why engage them; all we need to do to win is watch the calendar turn and the babies being born.

p.s. PAY YOUR TAXES!

One would think that Ca, would be a natural first partner for Nv. However, Nv might think otherwise. If Ca could get its head out of its ass, they could be the preeminent example of how to do it, and host the most sites. Huge market here, which Nv has fed on forever, and if Nv has it their way, will continue to feed on Ca forever. So I actually suspect that a Ca/Nv coalition will not happen as Nv will pump mega money into the fight to prevent Ca from adopting anything internet poker related at all.

Facepalm:cool:

PowerBall lottery started in a few states, then expanded to some more states. Silly greedy naive politicians really would like to set up online poker along the same model. It'll never come soon (enough), and it'll never be good (enough). But one can dream...

Yeah, Te, I'll take anything to end the wait and the lockout from the rest of the world online poker community. I started playing Home Games and Free Money a little yesterday at PStars. Site's just as fun as ever: Cracked my pocket aces twice in the first 4 levels of a bounty tournament. Wheeeeee!!!!!
