here's a possible idea ...make poker like a home game...rent the virtual table for a set fee and block of time...higher stakes equals lower rake %...off hours = cheaper rates...
a dedicated 2 or 4 or more hour ring tournament.(blinds stay the same thruout)..with some kind of penalty for quitting so there is no break up of the game.. .
This reminded me of a product that made the threads here a couple of years ago. It was essentially a cardless, dealerless live poker table played with a mouse (or dedicated buttons) and separate vid screens. So you or I could sit at this table, with other live bodies, and still have most of the conveniences of internet poker, yet the fun of live poker. IIRC, we poo poo'ed the notion at that time.
Since casino's tend to not like to spread poker tables because they really don't make much money for the casino's, this could be a win win solution for those casino's. Hell, they might not even need to have the real estate onsite, they could just provide the game, and financials for local bars to spread poker promo's.
The US market will change more than most of us want. With the states involved wanting to maximize profits, they will almost have to enact provisions that many will hate, not unlike the Bovada anon games, or this new push by Revolution and Party to prevent the sharks from feeding on the fish, I can see the states making any external software (read trackers) a violation of state laws or rules. Both the casino's and the states will want to enhance the entertainment value of OLP, while attempting to make for a Disney like experience where no one suffers much.
The future of OLP in the USA, IMHO, is tourney's.
