I went there a couple of times when I lived in CT (won one/lost one), it's an incredible poker room. They spread lots of games at various limits, so wait time is short.

I don't know the room rates since I lived in state. There's not much besides the Casino around there. I think a couple of newer motels have opened in the vicninty, but can't remember the names. Norwich, Mystic, Groton, and New London are within a short drive.

Funny true story related to Foxwoods: I was doing an archaeological survey near the casino and I had to drive by there every morning to get to the site. Early one morning I got stopped by the traffic light near the main parking garage and a truck pulled out towing a bass boat. I know for a fact there are no lakes at the casino! I know the guy said "Honey I'm going fishing early in the morning" and then headed to Foxwoods.

From what I have heard, their rake is not on a pot by pot basis, it is $5/person per hour for the $1/$2. I have never personally played their, but the few friends who have played there before don't often play there anymore. We live about 30min outside of NYC, and it's easier to go down to Atlantic City. Foxwoods is pretty big, so it shouldn't be too hard to get a room.

Make that $5 every 1/2 hour. But If you're just going to have fun you shouldn't worry about it though. For most ordinary people, even $1/$2 is way above the optimal limit. So just get your room, pay the time and don't fret too much about your hourly rate.

I am usually a regular there as most of my friends are also. for the limit tables the pot is raked. When it comes to the $1/$2 NL it is $5 every 1/2 hour. I think $2/$5 NL is a little more. If you are catching cards and hitting a lot of hands $1/$2 NL is a gold mine. The best time to play would be a Friday or Saturday night/early morning when all the drunks/club goers get in the games. It's like blackjack to them and if your hands hold up, you get paid off BIG. I have been running bad lately plus 2 surgeries so I can't get out much now. They have tournaments every day as well as SNG's running all the time.

As far as rooms, I think they are around $119 for that time of the year. It might be cheaper to get a room at one of the hotels down the street. Also at that time of the year it it nearly impossible to get a room especially around the 4th of July.

Anything you want to know about the place, just let me know, It's practically my job as a player up there. I plan on going back for the Foxwoods Poker Classic if I am well enough. $600 tourney and a satellite to get in the main event WPT.

I've done well and awful there. It depends on how my luck goes. The general rule for me is, only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
