I know. Mine is probably one one your list. However, I just have not encountered very many decent female players.

The percentage of live poker players who are women is very very low.

Some of the best poker players I know are women that none of you guys could ever think about getting a good read on consistently. But that's okay - a lot of strength in live tournaments comes from knowing you guys have bad reads on us lol. That is not a joke - it is awesome being a woman poker player on a table full of men.

Even though I have done very well in ladies tournaments - I much prefer to be on a table of men than women. We get an automatic edge from so many men that we never get from women.

We all have some hilarious stories to tell about horrible plays men have made against us because we are women.

One of my favorite things to do when nobody knows me is pretend that I am only there to play slots but have watched poker on tv and decided to play some while I was there. :p

Oh - and guys stop asking us what we had in a hand - we lie 100% of the time. (and try not to laugh when you say "I knew you had aces")

LOL. It would be very easy for a woman to exploit a man at a poker table. Women have been exploiting men in many other ways for ions.

Good post.

they think ATC with hearts are pretty and always go all in with them ..awwwww

There are certain generalities you can always count on in Poker.

1) Hispanic players are Loud at the table, especially if ther'e behind in the hand.

2) Older players NEVER Bluff.

3) Special Needs Players know what your cards are.

4) Players under 24 are NEVER ahead when they 3bet.

5) Irish Players have more than "coffee" in that hot-cup.

6) French players are always given plenty of personal space at the table for good reason.

7) Black players never play events if there is snow outside the casino.

8) Russian players will bet EVERY hand no matter the cards.

9) Players wearing hoodies will raise in position every hand no matter the holdings.

10) Women ALL play uber tight and only open with tier 1 hands.

:banghead:

.

Stupid thread, great posts. :p

Honestly though I find generalizations on age/race/gender aren't accurate enough to be of any use, gender would probably be the worst one as it's the widest subset.

You referring to mine perhaps? Meh... I did start off by saying we shouldn't generalize cus obv we might meet men who play the same manner, but I should have added that the cussing, arguing and fights that break out in those rpm tourneys are unbelievable! Seriously...if only I had saved a few chats, it would make for hilarious reading in the 'joke' thread!

I know that a lot of "girls" online are probably guys.

One of my favorite photos was a fat greasy haired guy around 45 wearing a t shirt that read "I am that hot 18 year old blond girl you had cyber sex with last week"

Amen! But only proves why it's so great to be a woman who can hold her own at a table if there are men like these sitting at the table.

I love this because it's so true. I especially love the "old-timers" who you can tell really think women shouldn't even be at the table corrupting their "man's game". Usually some grumpy old codger. lol

And how good it feels to see the relief in their faces because they know they made a great lay down with their JJ - they even tell you - yea I knew you had AA so let my JJ go. As I sit there smiling that I made him throw away JJ against my 99. :p

Yea Hott Estelle still burns heavy in the hearts of many Cardschat men lol.

Mike Caro wrote a book called "Poker for Women – A Course in Destroying Male Opponents at Poker and Beyond" whether you agree or disagree it relies a lot on stereotyping both men and women. He goes into his ideas a little bit in this article. If you're an adherent to political correctness and offended by contrarian views then please don't read. http://www.poker1.com/archives/4254

Mike Caro kind of stereotypes a bunch, IMHO.

However, I have learned some solid tells from some of his vids.

It just occurred to me that Iselo never actually stated an opinion. He/she just opened this can of worms and poured it out on our plates. You opened this can of worms. Now sit down and eat your share.

"Female poker players style of play"

What's the female style of play-Who really knows Jennifer Harmon has 2 wsop Titles by playing guys and gals at her table.
Everyone has thier own style of play it doesn't matter your gender if someone were to ask Vanessa Selbst if she won her 2012 WSOP Title playing like a female it would be an insult cause Vanessa plays her own style her way-online poker is an illusion in many ways cause male and female players use whatever avatar they choose and play whatever style they want too.

I don't generalize personally. I just ask because it's interesting to learn how people in the poker scene think and reason, rather than to get information on womens style of play. Of course it's just as individual among women as it is among men and if there are fewer skilled female players it probably because they are fewer in general (and some of the comments on here might explain why that is).
..................
I did comment on the previous page, perhaps you missed it. I also think it's odd that there are so few women in poker since physical advantages such as height, body strength etc. plays no part in poker as it does in some other sports.

Congratz on your poker genius daughter! Keep encouraging her to play, I would like to see more women at the poker tables.

I'm gonna have to go back through the thread. I must have missed it. I was just sitting here laughing, thinking it was hillarious that someone might have lit a bomb and ran.

I only play online tables, apart from one visit to Vegas a few years ago. My wife's style is ultra conservative. She will very rarely raise and prefers to have what she sees as the security of the flop before committing any serious chips. This approach has worked reasonably well in PokerStars and she's won a few minor prizes, but overall she tends to fold her way out of competitions.
clearly this woman shows signs of battery..please be kinder at home Oozlum Bird
I'm looking for a thread of the ladies vs men CC game on pokerstars ...any help?
enjoyed the read here tho

generally to say passive, they are more like to call not to bet or raise, but some female player is very crazy, bet or raise or all in with any two. LOL

As a female i take advantage of this stereotype. I try to trap more than i should and am aggressive. Once my table image is better, i loosen up.

I think women used to be very tight players, but now we are changing and most of us learned how to be aggressive in the right time.

You could say that about any new poker player, man or woman.

Being a woman at a live table full of men is pretty much the funnest thing in the world...I also use the typical stereotypes to my advantage and have usually walked away even or ahead. Online, I don't even think about gender, because you really don't have any idea who you are up against. All you can really do is try to read your opponent to the best of your ability. For all you know, behind that grumpy old man pic is a young woman getting the lay of the table, or a pro that doesn't want to be recognized. You just never know!
