Phil Helmuth, is the player I detest most, He comes across as a big I am, and even though he has won many world title's, he lets everyone know just who he thinks he is.
At the end of the day he is just another poker player and can be beat by a lot of other players.
I once watched a video on Youtube, and he was playing heads up against Tom Dwan, Tom raised with pocket 8s and Phil went all in with pocket rockets, Tom called and turned over his 8s when Phil turned over his Ace's he said something like "and that is why I am a world champion" Tom just sat there hit his 3rd 8 on the flop and Phil did his John Macenroe Impression "you cannot be serious" attitude,
But I must say Tom was very humble about his victory and probably waited until he was alone before he burst out laughing his socks off.

If I had to choose my favorite players in poker I think it would be Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu. Both for their skill level and style of play as well as what they have done in terms of globalizing the game.

I am very disappointed with Negrianu whom I previously respected and loved. As it turns out, Negrianu is no poker genius. His game is mediocre and predictable. And his behavior at the table is sometimes just disgusting. It's my opinion. I think at the moment in offline poker only McDonald has the right to be called a poker master.
