Silver Level
This is a little side project I thought about doing where you double-up your buy-in at a current limit, then move up to the next limit. So, I would be starting from 2nl and working my way up to a buy-in at 50nl, and then starting over when I reach that limit. Others may choose to reach a smaller goal such as 2nl - 10nl or 25nl. I see this little challenge as a way of possibly building your BR without risking it, while also giving you a chance to experience higher level buy-in plays. I'm personally doing it because I want the challenge.
As far as bankroll goes, I advice you set aside a small limit for you to use. This way, you aren't dipping to much into your actual BR and you'll still follow BRM. With this challenge, however, you will be using one buy-in at a time and playing with the profits from that buy-in.
The rules are as follows:
-You must start with the lowest limit on Stars, 2nl, with a buy-in of $2.50
-You must double up your buy-in at the current limit you are at before you move up
-You must buy-in for exact amount you ended previous game with in the limit that meets the buy-in range.
...I'll be using a spreadsheet to keep track of my games.
-You can set any goal and quit/start over after the goal is reached.
The limit/buy-in ranges:
2nl: $2.50-$4.99
5nl: $5.00-$9.99
10nl: $10-$24.99*
25nl: $25-$49.99
50nl: $50-$99.99
*10nl-25nl is a bit different since there really isn't a double up range here. So, you'll play 10nl a bit longer than the other limits* Others can try to reach higher goals, but I probably wont go higher than 50nl and using that to pad my BR.
Possible benefit of this is it allows you a chance to boost your BR with minimum risk. For example lets say you have a BR of $60 and you follow a BRM plan of buying for 5% of your BR at a time, thats $3. So, you decided to use $2.50 for the challenge and your goal is to reach 10nl. We'll if you reach your goal, then you just padded your BR with an extra $7.50 in profits. Or lets you want to go higher and you reach 25nl, you just added an extra $22.5 to your BR from $2.50. However, lets say you have a bad run and you bust your initial buy-in, well you just lost 5% of your BR. So, you still follow BRM, but you allow yourself a chance at boosting the BR at lot faster than if you were to just constantly play at your current limit. I suggest that if you have a small BR, you keep your goals fairly small, so you can pad your BR at a steady pace.
Anyway, I'm doing this and if anyone wants to join and give it a shot, please do.
