Players who table teach, whether friendly or fish bashing, are people who are trying to wrap their minds around some new concept, believe they have it's essence, and are trying to share their eureka moments .

It is the guppy stage for them, and soon they will grow up to be real honest to god fish!:D

I see this is a common place in online poker and is one of my pet hates really. How is it good for anyone to barate a fish and abuse him and tell him/her how bad they play or how bad they are? This most commonly occurs when a player receives a bad bad beat. However, you should be wanting people to call you down with 20% equity in a hand on a consistent basis. Sure sometimes despite how badly a player may of played his hand he will win and suckout but that's the nature of poker and there is nothing you can do about it. What is important is that you got your money in good and as profiting poker players we aim to put the odds in our favor as much as possible. . Just remember, in longrun these players will just end up giving the their money back to the poker community. If anything you should be praising a bad player for how good he plays and how badly you play and how lucky you are so they will continue to play the same way.

These players drive the poker economy and it is imperative that these players are treated like rock stars for their generous contributions to the poker community. Besides, the last thing we want as profiting players is these players to learn from there mistakes and work on becoming better players overall. Without these players online poker would be much harder to profit from and im sure none of the people who are already profiting want this to happen.

Yep.... I like, and agree,, with this^^^^^^^^

I am probably the only person who doesn't care about the tap the glass theory. I don't berate bad players but I really don't think it makes the slightest bit of difference if someone does.

They are bad because they don't learn, they don't learn because they don't listen, they don't listen because they don't care. Therefore nothing changes.

No. They do learn. Let us not be the ones to stimulate....

Fish can't hear.

They hear, feel, notice, whatever.... even an abused person who knows nothing else eventually notices....

I disagree, especially while sitting on cashgame tables. Some idiot starts bashing the fish on the table & how often do you see the fish get up & leave? Even if they don't, what good can possibly result from the bashing? I get pissed off when someone starts laying into the fish on the table in the chat.

^^^^^this as well

IMO berating period is unnecessary and uncalled for poker or otherwise, I cant really think of one senario where it is ok, or helpful.

Thank them.

Agreed your going to win 80% of the time. Besides you should never play at a limit that your not rolled to play at because bad beats are inediable no matter what stakes you play at.

Huge pet peeve of mine when jackasses who obviously suck at poker themselves chase off other bad players. Not helping anyone...

I'm usually just focused on players stats and my game. I do recall a couple fun conversations late in MTTs though. Sometimes when the players get past the bubble and have a moment to relax, chat makes for some interesting discussions. ..But as the numbers crunch down, it's back to work. :p

Why do people assume that getting angry and playing a stake you are correctly rolled for are mutually exclusive.

Its not a rule but they often are, general. If you follow good bankroll management youu should be able to play solid, emotionless poker..and gettin beat in one game generally won't effect u. When you have a lot more then 2% of your worth on the table...understandable to take bad beats a little harder lol.

I love fish. For 3 months while I was interviewing and jobhunting I had nothing to do and lived at casino 4 days a week...maan. I constantly engaged fish in convoos, was friendly with them, said "aw shucks" when they shipped their stack with aj against someones ak...etc. played much looser than usual just to get in lots of hands w them..cause I know I have a ridic edge postflop vs them. More often then not they were like damn nice hand..and shipped me their stack. For 3 months they paid my bills haha

Absolutely, talkin sht affects them. It bothers them, makes the game less enjoyable, makes them more conscious of what they're doing. I get into arguments with nits all the time anytime they pick on fish on my tbl. Even bad arguments like "get over it you lost" haaha...pisses the nits offff. (Usually resort to that when fish play was just awful and I can't say anything legit)

On second thought - if you can get them thinking your on tilt and you happen to catch AA etc... they will likely call you if you try to get them all in.

I appreciate what youre saying, in a live game I wouldn't dream of it. And I actually dont berate them online either. However online I don't think is is a crime, where as in live games it is detrimental. So many fish online and so many of them don't even care what you type to them. Live you are right it would be stupid to berate them.

haha i love this post. there are definitely a lot of fish out there (especially if you spend a decent amount of time in the freerolls), and whenever somebody catches a bad beat from them they alwayssss start ridiculing them.
you absolutely have to restrain from commenting at them...if you are the one that caught the bad beat, commenting at them will only let them show that you are aggrevated, and the fish is throwing you off of your game. if you are a third party (the fish gave somebody else a bad beat), i would just sit there quietly and wait until you get a premium hand, and hopefully get the fish to push all in against you...
haha also, in online poker, you can scream at the screen as much as you want, but as long as you dont type aanything into the box you look as cool as a cucumber. in real poker, however...

So hard to swallow when it happens at stakes you are not rolled for! Yesterday played a live $50 tourney, awesome structure 1/2 hour blinds played for 8 hours before losing with AA. Yes I win more than 80% when he has 66 but he made a set on the flop. "Well played" I said.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the people berating other players are also fish themselves. I just played some of those 11c turbos and several of the games (including a couple I sucked out) were flips at best. I believe it was J10 suited vs pocket 6's or some similar pockets. Neither hand too impressive. I hit one and you know "donk this suckout that how could you even consider that trash" then they get the j10 instant push and get called and beat by JA. Just funny how most of these people calling everyone donk and talking about how horrible they are aren't that great and play the exact same way, but youre the donk because they had 51% preflop.

then even somewhat educated poker players come here and tell other decent to good players to not do it and 99% either agree wholeheartedly or agree but admit to slipping occasionally. (with what I would assume is an actual bad beat not 66 vs J10s). Just thinking that most of the people who want those who suck out to kill themselves or whatever troll thing they say are just as bad, if not worse, and definitely don't come to forums. Probably only watch it a couple times a week on tv and thinking that's helping them improve their game.
