My dad taught me to play when I was about ten, which was fifty years ago. I started studying the game about fifteen years ago. When I think about some of the plays I made when I went to Vegas in 1990, cringe. I got four tens in seven card stud, and just called all the way down.

I was 19 and at a house party with my GF. It was all her friends, I didn’t know anyone there but they were setting up for a tournament in the kitchen. The told me the basics and said they would “teach me” while we played, so I handed over my $20 and took a seat. Out of pure luck I ended up taking there little tournament down and I was instantly hooked.

The first time I had real contact with Poker, it was on a holiday that my friend took and we played at the beach house. I liked it so much that when I got home, the first thing I researched were places where I could play online. Since then I've never stopped and I think if I try I can not hahahaha

The first time I played poker was when I was very young, I think around 8 years old in the late 90s. I don't remember a whole lot about the game but I think we played it in a driveway or on a sidewalk. It was just me and older friend from the neighborhood who taught me how to play. I can't remember what we played for maybe just play chips or nickels.
It wasn't until around 6 years later that poker became a big part of my life. Me and my father would watch the WPT on tv all the time. I remember seeing Daniel Negreanu get 2 WPT final tables in a row and thought it was insane. We eventually all started playing online, although I couldn't play until a few years later because I wasn't 18 yet. My older brother became obsessed with it and eventually dropped out of school to play full-time.
Fast-forward a couple years and I started playing in some home games where we would play dealer's choice of all different kinds of card games, not just poker. Those days were a lot of fun(especially when I was the big winner).
Fast-forward a couple more years and the US government decided they have the right to stop people from playing poker online and all the best poker sites were blocked for US players. online poker just hasn't been quite the same since that day.

started off young getting hustled by the older cuzzins, new years is big in my culture, $$$$.,
so got in a game no free ride, learned 5 card draw poker at age 7/8? then from there on , to online poker boom,
love the game. I played sports all my life, so that competitive nature in me, cant stop playing games.

I first started playing poker on Facebook,at Zynga Poker and then tried to play for real money.I think that the first online poker room I played at was Minted Poker.

My uncle taught me as a kid...me, my brother, my uncle, and my grandma was my first time playing..i was 10 or 11 years old....my first online game was absolute poker and my first live game was at a bar with 40 people and i won the whole tournament that day lol...i won like 400 with a 15 dollar buy in

I cant remember when exactly I started but it was before the govt shut down the US. I started on Hollywood Poker, won a bunch of free rolls at the site. I enjoy playing now on ACR... love the cardschat free rolls... great opportunity.

I started 2 years ago on a site called Silver Sands Poker room, only to find out it was and is very corrupt, but I lost a lot of money, so led me to believe online poker was all bad, until I came onto your card chat site. Now I see that a lot goes into more proffessional people checking all the sites out. Onlt problem it is not easy to get onto a lot of sites when you are from South Africa, so far only ACRtake us.

I started playing in 1967 at 4yrs. old, 5card draw mostly (as soon as I was able to fan the cards out in my hand... & was actually given help to do so for the first while until my hands were big enough to hold & fan them on my own).
We played a variety of games... 'pregnant 3's', 'follow the bee-otch', firey cross, 7-card -Roll your own, High Chicago (spades) or Lo-Chicago, & others.
