got into a debate with a friend the other day over poker being a sport or not.

he was in a bad mood and think he was doing it to piss me off imo -.-, but I wanted to know what CC thought.

opinions?

Been playing this game for 2 to 3 years now and playing basketball for about 8 years and no, I don't believe that poker is a sport.

Poker challenging, it's also mentally stimulating (and if you really care about strategy, sports can be very mentally stimulating too, but that's a different story) but its not a sport.

No. It's a game. The most common argument that it's a sport seems to be based on the fact that poker can involve long sessions that require physical endurance. But using this criterion, anything can be a sport if a condition of long sessions is added and there's some reward to compete for.

Not a sport, just a game and having a good investment mind or background sure helps
