No....you would fist pump 3bet.....dont play live until you have done your homework

I wouldnt say DONT play live until youve done your homework.. id say dont play live unless your comfortable risking that amount of money..

from my experience which has been mostly live play for the last 5 years.. im 25 now.. is that you encounter the same amount of skill in players whether your playing a .05/.10 online as you would playing $1/$2 live..

the only real difference is in one game your risking $10 and the other your risking up to $300 its definitely worth the experience and no amount of online play will prepare you for actually sitting at a table live and playing.. if you cant afford it tho get the majority of your experience online.. its way cheaper haha but i wouldnt say theres a crazy amount of skill at the lower levels of live play

yeah i agree with you absolutely, only play if you can afford to lose the money....maybe shouldnt be telling people to study the game before they play live lol...

Just dont bluff until you have shown down a couple of winning hands. Then people will be more inclined to believe you. Trying to bluff to soon is one of my big leaks. ;)

I tend to have a problem like this except mine is trying to make a move that my opponent just wont understand or realize its a situation theyre supposed to fold lol

Ladybugger, you can make quite a bit by value betting when you have a hand. They'll pay you off for the most part. Why dilute the bottom line by trying to bluff people that won't fold? In my experience the low stakes cash players are loose passive, especially with a couple of drinks in them.

I think they do not bluff often.. but it depends on personal "conditions" of each player... Some players with BIG ego will play more aggresively and will try to bluff more, and more "submisive players will play more tight (even more than on internet I guess) :)

Depends on the Noob.. when i first started.. I was extra tight and only would play high pocket pairs, or AK .. but now i've loosened up a good bit.. So it really depends on how the person was taught, and what their normal tendencies are.. not everyone plays online poker, so alot people look at it differently when they 1st go in... Once knew a guy, who was ''trying to go home'' and ended up almost winning the tournament... so there are alot of factors at play here..

Ok, so don't try to bluff n00bs.
I have noticed in my phone app, people will stay in with total junk.
They will also call EVERY pre-flop raise. No way this happens in real life.
In contrast, pros on youtube fold almost everything, and most hands are head-to-head.

I think I'd like to do exactly that.
Playing with money will change the level of play, even at a $100 investment.
But, I thought online poker was banned in the USA.
I also read that they are all rigged and crooked.
Can you suggest a site?

And yes, I am one of these n00bs as well, but I am at least in 2nd gear. I know how to fold and do not chase sucker hands like K 5 or suited junk.
I am not really looking to gamble, or make money at this, but I do want to walk into a casino and play Hold'em and see how long I can last.

Should you really believe you are in 2nd gear after playing for play money on your phone, you are clueless. I would suggest you do some serious reading in the hand analysis or strategy sections.

I try the same thing. I keep forgetting that most of the people that play @ my local casino are retards & don't understand this.

It's also useless to ever bluff most of them as they call down with anything.

Funny thing is, I play tight live, but online I play quite a bit looser.

you wont last 2 minutes mate.....ive not even played live yet and ive been playing the game serious for the last 8 months....and i dont think im even ready to play live yet.....learn the fundimentals of the game instead of thinking you can just turn up and double your money without knowing anything about what you are doing/or not doing....otherwise play blackjack
...?

Casino play is populated by gamblers (i.e. drunk retards there to spew chips and have fun and maybe get lucky), rather than poker players. Compound the fact that there's no such thing as micro stakes in a casino (the lowest game any casino will ever spread is 1/2), and casino poker becomes several times softer than OLP at identical stakes. As I understand it a casino game is about as soft as an online game with stakes ten times lower (like, casino NL200 is equivalent to OL NL20, NL1k is NL100, and so on).

So you're probably fine.

On a 1\2 table... How much bankroll should you have to start? Thirty big blinds?

What do you mean by softer?

Weaker competition. Live players are terrible, generally. Aleksei names a couple of reasons why this is so and I could probably list another 4 or 5 good ones on top of that.

That's not even enough to sit down. :p For casual play where you can afford to lose everything and reload I recommend 10 buy-ins at minimum (you can't survive even a single session without the ability to reload). Semi-pros need 30 buy-ins minimum, and full-time pros (no side job, etc.) need about 100 buy-ins.

Generally speaking I play with about 30-60 buy-ins depending on level. For live play I just play with 10 because live games are so much weaker than they should be given price and I just can't afford to roll the amounts actually needed for most live games (incl. home games).

If your playing $2/$4 limit holdem cash game its gonna be hard to bluff. You will be called to the river @ least prob 80% of the time in live poker on a 9 player table by another player or multiple players.
