I earned $8k tonite in 1 1/2 hrs. To do that in poker, I would have to play at a stake level that would soil my pants. I'll stick to working 100 hrs a year and play poker for fun ( even though it has paid for my last 2 trips to Vegas and the next one in Sept ),,,,tyvm, all from a single $50 deposit.
pimp in the thread, holla

seems like these days you need to be able to play over 10 tables at a time to make a living. Just thinking of doing that every day makes me sick.
Agree, and maybe go blind too, Wally

Poker is the only hobby I have that pays for itself. It is a relaxing way to spend an evening. Wouldn't want to turn a hobby I enjoy into a "job" I hate

It's strictly a hobby for me, but my game has recently improved by quite a margin. I'm not sure exactly what happened, besides reading tons of books and playing, but a light went on. I've won four out of the last five times I've played at my local casino, so it's a nice side hobby.

Patience and discipline are probably the key factors for my improvement. In the past, I would take a hand like Big Slick and hit the flop, and then get stacked off by someone when it didn't hold up. The discipline to throw away big hands when you're beat and patience to wait for prime times to hammer your lesser opponents are a key mantra of mine. It's hard to be patient on the internet but in a live game, it's easier to just sit back and enjoy the environment and wait.

I make a good living from poker without playing 10 tables or high stakes. I typically play 4 or 5 mid-stakes tables. But it's quite possible to make a nice living single-tabling if you play heads up. I did that for a while, but didn't like all of the waiting around.

I have tried to play poker for living with limited success. It is a mentally and physically draining profession. Playing in Las vegas for a number of years without a job was definitely an experience I would never regret. Now, I have a 9 to 5 job and play poker as a hooby/supplemental income. I would like to add up all the free meals and drinks I got while playing in Vegas. Probably a small fortune.

My husband does and has for a year and a half now. It is work and does take a lot out of him. But with good support(from me and his dad) He is doing well. There is a lot of variances when he plays, he has gone on some nice down swings, but you all are right it does take the fun out of the game when you are grinding for 9-12 hours a day. So playing poker for a living is work. Not the free ride a lot thinks it is. But he is able to supply for his family of 5 on it.=)
