Big Deal is a great story written by an award-winning journalist and author of many biographies, Anthony Holden. The book takes you through Holden's travels as he spends a year as a "professional poker player." It is very interesting and well written, and includes a brief but informative history of poker, playing cards, and gambling greats. On his tour of the world, Holden plays with such interesting individuals as Amarillo Slim, John Chan, Bobby Baldwin, Eric Drache, and a very young Phil Hellmuth Jr. The book ends with Holden playing in and busting out of the Main Event the year Hellmuth upset Chan's triple crown chance to become the youngest Main Event winner at 24. The book is an great read for anybody, not just poker players. It will not improve your game, except maybe to give you some appreciation for how cold the deck can be. I reccomend it to anyone looking to read a good book and satisfy their cravings for poker knowledge at the same time. /\/\
