I converted to plastic cards only 4 months ago, and bought sets of Ritz, Da Vinci Harmony [bridge size], and Copag 1546. After a lot of shuffling and dealing, and around 30 hours of poker, I submit the following information for your discernment. Here are my comments on each of these plastic [all solid PVC] cards:
RITZ
The thinnest, most slippery, and most flexible of the bunch. Easiest to shuffle. Handling is sometimes challenging. Tended to stick together after several hours of play. The brightest and most glare of all, no texture at all. Cheapest of all at $7.49/set. Comes in a plastic case.
DA VINCI
Easiest to deal, with Copag in a very close second. I think the smaller size of the DV decks may have had something to do with that. Most difficult to get a good shuffle, and too stiff and thick IMO. Dealt well. Heavier texture than Copag. $11.97 with a nice hard shell case.
COPAG
No question my favorite. Thickness and flexibility seem just right to promote great shuffling. Handling and dealing on par with the DVs.
Texture just right. Ah, but they have a strong odor like burnt insulation that seems to weaken over time and action. Comes with a very good hard shell plastic case, the top of which kind of locks into place, and has an interior tab to keep the cards from moving around inside the case. $12.95
Sorry I don't have enough time using these cards to evaluate wear and longevity . Hopefully, this preliminary information will be useful to someone. Of course, all this is in my humble opinion, and some may completely disagree. Prices are from Amazon and recent.
QUESTION
I have a question for the group. I intend to buy a poker set with jumbo index, and it will probably be Copag. But I am kind of considering Da Vinci Neve or Da Vinci Club Casino as well. I would like to hear of any opinions on this.
Also, does anyone know if all the cards are produced by an individual manufacturer using the same thickness and consistency of the PVC sheet?
