I made a thread regarding a tournament I was to play in at Harrah's, but my lazy friends couldn't wake up at 6AM so we headed down there around 2PM Friday, made it by 4.
My friends and I arrive at AC around 4, and they wanted to walk to boardwalk so we did, and ended up getting a room at the Chelsea which was right across from the Trop. I let them get wasted and blow quarters on slots while I registered for the 1/2 NL, bought in for 100 and was promply seated.
This particular table was rather uneventful, mostly full of nits/TAGgy 21 year olds with sunglasses and headphones on. A middle aged drunkard kept fueling the occasional pots that I and others dragged down, so I had no complaints. This continued on for a few hours, I left, went to have a few drinks at a bar inside with my friends, and returned back to the room around 12o clock. This is where it gets fun.
I end up sitting at a different table with 2 players I had played against before. An urban looking Latino and a slender Asian guy both looking like they were in their early twenties. They were situated to my immediate left, so I wasn't very happy about that, but I was pumped about 200 from the day's session and decided to buy in for another 100 and see where it goes. We end up playing till the wee hours of the morning, around 6 AM, with my stack relatively floating around 200, and the Latino pumped up about 600. My friend comes down and motions me to leave, and I tell him that I will be right up after this rotation.
The Latin guy was scolded prior to the hand for removing a rack of $5 chips off the table and not realizing it was table stakes, kept in $60. He ignored the dirty looks and we played the hand.
I'm dealt As10c in MP1. UTG folds, I raise to 8 (questionable, I know), folds over to the Latin guy, he calls, everyone folds. Flop comes A,8,10 rainbow. I fire out 15, he raises me to 60ish, I flat called looking to induce a fold on the turn with a large bet. Turn is a brick. I lead out for 100, and he flat calls again. River is a Qd. At this point I figure he has me either for a set of 8's or Aces (I saw him chase two inside draws to Broadway prior). I decide to check after much delay and he fires 2-300ish. Judging by the way he was playing I put him relatively within a set or Aces. I end up calling and drag down the pot with top two pair, he had aces and 8's. I promptly tipped the dealer, sat up, and went to get some Irish coffees with the boys.
So in the end, it was a great evening, learned a bit more about playing 1/2 casino hold em, and plan on playing again this weekend if everything goes well. Hope you enjoyed the story.
