Argh! I'm going to make the 750 mile MOST boring drive in the world the frist weekend in January all to try and grab hold of that elusive brass ring. I'll be playing in the $200 Ladies' Event on Sunday afternoon. The official wsop site has the start time for ALL of these events as 12AM. I spoke with the Grand (casino) Tunica tournament director and she freaked when I told her the official events calendar had 12am as the start time for all of her events. Gasp! The starting time for all WSOP events in January, anyway, is 12 NOON, NOT midnight. LOL. I hope the schedule has been changed by now? Anyway, if anyone is going, maybe we can get together and grab a couple meals or drinks?
I stupidly made the drive from New Jersey to Tunica this summer. 1,200 miles of very boring countryside. And, if you're using a AAA map or TripTik, the directions to Tunica from Memphis suk. They're wrong, totally. You have to ask a local how to get off of the interstate and head down this very flat nondescript road to take you to the casinos. It's old route something, I forget right now. This time, luckily, I'll only be making a 750 mile trip from home in Florida. At least I'll be coming from the south and won't have to approach Tunica from Memphis. And, I can visit Vicksburg, again. I'd never been there before this summer, and was looking for the Isle of Capri Vicksburg. I was more than a little surprised to discover it doesn't exist, anymore. It is now Diamond Jacks. VERY nice little casino and hotel. If anyone has the opportunity to stay and play there, you'll like it. When I walked in without a reservation and asked if there were any rooms left, the clerk was nearly beside herself when she had to tell me they only had suites available and she then apologized profusely for having to charge me $89 for the suite. Me? I was delighted to get a suite for $89.00! I JUMPED ON IT, TO BE SURE! The poor gal was nearly in tears for the high price. LOL. But, I'd spent the last 4 weeks driving from FL to NJ to Tunica, it was one of the cheapest and nicest rooms on my entire trip!
