I think there should be a way to instantly notify Admin when a player is going over the line such as racist comments or ridiculously rude and nasty insulting chat, I believe if the poker rooms installed such a device and took away offenders chat privledges and showed it like with an x on their avitar you would see less nastiness

Remember, they have most of their employees busy screwing with the random card software so they can mess with people in the free rolls. They hire a bunch of new folks to monitor chat, rake would have to go up.

It's nice to meet new people and be social - however, at least at the micro stakes I play, there seem to be a bunch of anger bots and kids who want to use chat to put other people down. On the one hand I could sort of respect this if it was a strategy to gain an edge but after the game, when you look these guys up on sharkscope, it turns out the name callers are losing players.

Turn off the name callers chat unless you think you can get an edge on them by winding them up. But if you do run into decent people you can make great friends - I met some of my best poker friends at a free poker site - we sometimes get together in person with people from as many as 15 different states (both coasts and plenty in between) showing up to play a $20 tournament!

Online I turn off the chat on sites where you can - it always just deteriorates into two guys acting crazy. Live I will try to get some info from my opponents early in the session but I don't say much when Im in the hand unless Im contemplating making a call on the river - never say much If I am the aggressor or all in and hate it when someone not in the hand speculates - other than slow rolling I hate it when a live player speculates on a hand they aren't in - although I did see a guy slowroll and take 30 seconds to stack his chips to cl tonight with K 10 on Q J 7 2 9 rainbow board tonight - so brutal Im glad I was not in the pot the other guy had QJ and the pot was about 300 dollars

I don't chat much, but when I do, it's mainly with people I know. I will sometimes engage with a random I haven't chatted with before, but only if it's friendly. If somebody wants to put me down, that's their choice. I don't care what people say if they're going to be rude/obnoxious, I am trying to win chips.

But to someone's point, all poker rooms should have an option where you can call the chat moderator. Stars, to my knowledge, is the only one that offers this.

lol. I remember when i was playing in Vancouver. A fat american woman was playing at my table. She started complaining about the casino, and telling how great americans casinos were. Nobody was talking to her, then she was like "that is the quietest table I`ve ever played, we americans r friendly". hahaha.

Of course, do not like to chat with other people , especially when you enter the state of winning.

To me in the tourneys I have played in not many other players are chatting to chat to. Most players who I see chatting are problem players letting out anger of there play.

I used to get mad and tell people they were playing wrong. Then I realized, who am I to say how they should play.

For a while I never said a word...now I talk only if it's interesting and not about the tourney or cash game I'm in.

I don't chat, if it were live of course i will. Since I play online i'd rather not, cause playing in Zoom Poker it would be a distraction and I think there are not a lot of people chatting in that game mode.

I don't chat when I'm playing live. And if I do it's most likely with the dealer. A casino in wisconsin dells that I frequent are big Badgers fans. All of the dealers wear jersey's on gameday. I have a cousin and a couple friends that play for the Badgers. So talking about football there is the most chatting I've ever done. When I play in Milwaukee I don't talk at all. I don't go out of my way to be dick or anything and I will talk but I usually just listen to the regs chat it up.
