Well, we are on the eve of the start of the 2007 wsop, so I figured I'd throw a bunch of predictions out there for fun. The only prediction I made last year was that Hellmuth would not win his 10th bracelet and then he went and did that while I was in the room. Presently, I don't plan on making it to this year's WSOP so I guess Phil will have to wait to get #11. ;)

Anyway, here we go:
* The Main Event will have more participants than last year

Even though most people seem to think the UIGEA will cut down on the online entries (which it will), there are tons of live satellites that are run 24/7 at the Rio and they had to turn away people last year. So my guess is that it barely clips last year and 9,153 play in the Main Event.

* A woman will win a bracelet (other than the Ladies event)

* No one will win 2 bracelets this year

* Jeff Madsen will make a final table, but will not win any bracelets

* Bill Chen (last year's other double bracelet winner) will cash 3 times, but that's it.

* Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey will NOT win bracelets.

* Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Doyle Brunson will stay tied at 10 bracelets each.

* Erik Seidel will get his 8th bracelet.

* A woman will make the final table of the Main Event, but not win.

* An amateur will win the Main Event.

* There will be 2 pros at the final table of the Main Event.

* Gavin Smith will win the prop bet between him, Joe Seebok, and Jeff Madsen and be carried into the Main Event on a throne.

* J.C. Tran, Paul Wasicka, and Joe Hachem will win bracelets.

* Anna Wroblewski will make 4 final tables.

* Jamie Gold will survive Day 1 of the Main Event but will bust out on Day 2.

* Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer will not survive Day 1 of the ME.

* Mike Matusow will make 1 final table.

* Chip Reese will repeat as the $50K HORSE Champion.

* Phil Gordon will make no final tables.

* Phil Hellmuth and Men the Master will have 14 cashes combined.

I agree.

Even though most people seem to think the UIGEA will cut down on the online entries (which it will), there are tons of live satellites that are run 24/7 at the Rio and they had to turn away people last year. So my guess is that it barely clips last year and 9,153 play in the Main Event.

...yep.

* A woman will win a bracelet (other than the Ladies event)

Well, they contested for the WPT, but I have to that the "no" here if you are giving even money

* No one will win 2 bracelets this year

I need some odds here too, but I'll go with a 2x at 4:1 vs.

* Jeff Madsen will make a final table, but will not win any bracelets

I will take this at even money, even at 1:2 vs.

* Bill Chen (last year's other double bracelet winner) will cash 3 times, but that's it.

I will take this at 3:7 vs. i.e. you are a dog here...

* Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey will NOT win bracelets.

I will take this bet at even money.

* Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Doyle Brunson will stay tied at 10 bracelets each.

I will take this bet at 4:1.

* Erik Seidel will get his 8th bracelet.

Even money.

* A woman will make the final table of the Main Event, but not win.

6:1.

* An amateur will win the Main Event.

1:9, but you have to define "amateur".

* There will be 2 pros at the final table of the Main Event.

1:3 vs. (ur a 3:1 dog here).

* Gavin Smith will win the prop bet between him, Joe Seebok, and Jeff Madsen and be carried into the Main Event on a throne.

even money

* J.C. Tran, Paul Wasicka, and Joe Hachem will win bracelets.

ALL will win, or...? I'll give you 5:1 if all.

* Anna Wroblewski will make 4 final tables.

?

* Jamie Gold will survive Day 1 of the Main Event but will bust out on Day 2.

you have to lay odds here 3:7

* Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer will not survive Day 1 of the ME.

I will give 3:1 on "both" not making it.

* Mike Matusow will make 1 final table.

I will give you even money.

* Chip Reese will repeat as the $50K HORSE Champion.

I will give you 6:1 vs.

* Phil Gordon will make no final tables.

you lay 20:1

* Phil Hellmuth and Men the Master will have 14 cashes combined.

you lay 4:1

I will bet you $1 on each... let me know.

* The Main Event will have more participants than last year
WRONG. ME had 6,358 or about 2400 less than 2006.

CORRECT. Katja Thaler won the Razz bracelet.
* No one will win 2 bracelets this year
WRONG. Tom Schneider won 2 bracelets.
* Jeff Madsen will make a final table, but will not win any bracelets
HALF RIGHT. Madsen didn't win a bracelet, but he didn't make a final table either.
* Bill Chen (last year's other double bracelet winner) will cash 3 times, but that's it.
WRONG. Chen cashed 4 times.
* Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey will NOT win bracelets.
CORRECT. Although they came close. Ivey finished second to Chris Reslock and Negreanu finished 3rd.
* Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, and Doyle Brunson will stay tied at 10 bracelets each.
WRONG. Stupid Hellmuth got his 11th.
* Erik Seidel will get his 8th bracelet.
CORRECT. Seidel won the $5,000 Deuce to Seven bracelet.
* A woman will make the final table of the Main Event, but not win.
WRONG. Maria Ho was the last woman standing, she finished 38th.
* An amateur will win the Main Event.
CORRECT. Jerry Yang won his entry into the ME on a $225 sat and has only had a few minor cashes prior to winning the ME.
* There will be 2 pros at the final table of the Main Event.
WRONG. Lee Watkinson was the most notable name at the final table. While there was another bracelet winner there and some online "pros", my original thought was 2 "named" pros.
* Gavin Smith will win the prop bet between him, Joe Seebok, and Jeff Madsen and be carried into the Main Event on a throne.
WRONG. Sebok won and then Smith paid him to get out of carrying him in on the throne.
* J.C. Tran, Paul Wasicka, and Joe Hachem will win bracelets.
WRONG. Tran cashed twice, Wasicka once, and Hachem once.
* Anna Wroblewski will make 4 final tables.
WRONG. She only made 1 final table.
* Jamie Gold will survive Day 1 of the Main Event but will bust out on Day 2.
WRONG. He busted on Day 1. His mom made it to Day 2.
* Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer will not survive Day 1 of the ME.
WRONG. Raymer didn't survive Day 1, but Moneymaker made it to Day 2.
* Mike Matusow will make 1 final table.
WRONG. He cashed 3 times, finishing 11th, 15th, and 16th.
* Chip Reese will repeat as the $50K HORSE Champion.
WRONG. Freddy Deeb took it down.
* Phil Gordon will make no final tables.
CORRECT. He only had 2 cashes.
* Phil Hellmuth and Men the Master will have 14 cashes combined.
WRONG. Hellmuth had 6, Men had 2.

So 5 CORRECT, 14 WRONG, and 1 HALF RIGHT.

BTW, SMD, Phil Gordon, who als predicted no one would win 2 bracelets, lost a 10k wager when Tom Schneider collected his 2nd bracelet of the year.
