skill levels for different levels of tourneys

Can anyone describe pretty succinctly the average skill levels of people playing at different levels of tournaments (on full tilt or pokerstars)? putting bankroll aside ... how good does one have to be to be playing $10 MTT vs. $24, $33, $50+, etc.?

$10 MTTs are not ridiculously tough but when you get to $24 the last 4 or 5 ppl will be really good. At 50 and 69 you are swimming with sharks who spend many many hours every day playing and improving their game.

do you find that to be the case with sit-n-go's as well? i feel like i've done better in higher limit sit-n-go's than higher level mtt's
