I agree with this, plus you have the recreational players that havent even played 100 hands of poker it seems like. I wouldnt say bluffing is tough when playing live. You get a better feel for how players play and therefore can pick the right spots to bluff in.

Of course bluffing is possible with good reads, and knowing villain tendencies. However, I sometimes find it difficult to put fish on hands, because they take such stupid lines.

I c-bet bluff a lot live, and that works many times. When I said it was tough to bluff live, I was speaking about triple barreling.

The same thing happens when you actually have a huge hand. You blast three streets, and pan fry these fish. They call with TPNK.

Well, when firing multiple barrels, the same thing happens. They have an ace (TP), with a 3 kicker. The fish just can't ever seem to find a fold with TP. And because they play so passive, ranging them between draws and made hands can be tough.

Kind of a derail here..... but anyways that is what I think.

Crazy to see it compared to 10NL in here. I guess it depends on site and location but my local casino is 10x easier then even 4NL on the site I play on(Carbon). I did hear the theory of people that play online poker in America are slightly better(on average) because of all the hoops you have to jump through. If you are willing to go through all that just to play you have to be somewhat serious.

I agree with IPlay. Standard 10NL players online would generally crush 1/2 live.

Nobody crushes $1/$2 live, not for long anyway, it's too expensive. The rake is too high and the variance too great, not to mention the tips. But yeah, live rec $1/$2 players are worse than any on-line player at just about any level. I might even throw play money onto that list.

This is an interesting topic to me. Other than the rate at which hands are played, what phenomena contribute to a large variance in stakes being equated as the same in regards to live and online. I certainly have an "unspoken" understanding of this, and I would mostly contribute it to the fact that hands are played much quicker, but there seems there is more too it and I just can't get it to the surface of my feeble brain.

What's your definition for 'crushing'?

While my sample is still a bit small I'd say that things don't look too bad here.

Well, I'd say that's about as close as you can come. Very nice. I'm getting $15.05/hr over 440 hours. ROI 26.7%. I like that ROI vs S&P 500 stat.

$20/hour is possible to maintain over the long run for a solid 1/2 player and that is a rate of 40+bb/100. Idk if that is crushing or not by your standards but for sure worth grinding for imo.
