In general the wider ur opponent the wider our value betting can become.
So for example low board.. his overpairs top pair will pay us off.

Top heavy guys we draw value with ppl who overvalue ak and its all about perceived range and when will they make mistakes in the hand.
So calling mistakes preflop or post flop etc

Sometimes avoidjng tough spots we shove jj pre cuz it works out easier esp with blind battles and steals. We at the bottom of our range but we still crush their calling range and put them in a tough spot instead

Or if we know they have a real tighr range u go in a setmine mode

in. gl johnny. hows the grind going?

Hi mate, thanks for popping in :)

Everything going alright at the moment, just trying to get a decent sample in at 5NL and then as soon as roll is $400 I will start playing 10NL and start posting some decent hands.

I am pretty confident that I can beat 2 and 5NL over decent samples so just want to get 10NL and see how I do there.

Just been reading your thread there and you seem to be doing quite good at HU zoom. What made you switch to HU from 6-max ? More action ? Looking through the hands you post your seem to play super aggro so I think HU will maybe suit you a little better than normal 6-max.

Good luck anyway :)

Thanks Vinyl, not been playing much NLHE tbh as lifted my ban so been playing a lot of 8-game.

If you ever get bored playing NLHE give 8-game a try to low stakes I play 0.20/0.40 are really profitable because most people suck at at least 3 or 4 of the 8 games.

Will be back to grinding 5NL soon as want to get a graph uploaded of a decent sized sample.

What you been up to ? 10NL zoom or HU ?

I wouldn't suggest reading David Sklansky's book. It has absolutely nothing to do with online poker. Not only that, it constantly talks about other games. 7 card stud, razz, Fixed limit, Horse. Trust me man the book is not a good reference to Hold-Em. If you are planning to get a book on solely Poker or a good "old generation" book. Then go with Doyle Brunson Super System. I have been reading David Sklanskys book. I really do not like it and don't even plan on reading it anymore since it is just not a good read.

I have read:

Dusty Smchidt Treat your Poker like a Business
NL Texas Hold Em for Dummies

And a few other pages of other books. My next book will be all about online play.

Good luck man in your goals. I am making some as well. And like I said don't be surprised if your disappointed by Theory on Poker. It just is not good....

Thanks for popping in Aaron.

I understand where you are coming from in relation to it not having much in the way of today's online poker but imo it is still a decent read and worth reading.

I also play 8-game on Stars so it comes in handy for that. I like the sound of that treat your poker like a business by Dusty Schmidt so might read that.

If you are starting to focus more online than live I suggest to you reading Blackrain79 'Crushing the Micros' based at 2-10NL which I have read some of and then 'Modern Small Stakes' which is aimed at players playing from 10-200NL I would say.

He also has a good blog which is worth reading, I think he is one of the biggest winners in online poker history at micros stakes.

What are you up to at the moment ? I see quite a lot of people having a go at you in your thread but I think they are just being cruel to be kind, don't take too much to heart here as most people who may come across as they are taking the piss are actually very willing to help you.

Let me know whether you grinding live or online and GL anyway mate :)

Good luck Johnny.

you know what can be a good reading, but dont take it literally and try to inply the concepts in the game right away but just look at it as a mindest and logic behind all the systems... Bugs articles on 3bets you can find them on donkr... ill look for them and i can post a link later, its really detailed and as i say dont try to imitate and imply it into your game just read it and see why they use what ranges where, it really helped me tu understand why we need to be polarized and to really understand why we do something for value and for bluff, it helped me to exclude spots that were in the gray area and that makes me missplayed them... take a look i bet that you will love it

EDIT:

here they are, skip the PLO articles

Thanks for popping in my mate :)

Yes it would be appreciated if you don't mind about posting them links. If you found it useful I am sure it is deffo worth a read. I have been keeping an eye on your thread also mate. Do you prefer the sites you play on appose to Stars or do you just have to play on them as part of your staking agreement ? Also if you don't mind me asking what made you decide to play the shallow games appose to standard 100bb cash games ?

Whatever you decide to do I wish all the best and hope you do well :) This staking deal of yours does it involve any coaching sessions ? I don't really need staking as such as can always re-deposit if I bust roll but wouldn't mind a similar staking deal if it included the odd coaching session or sweat here and there.

Haven't been playing to much lately. ****ed up again, I did exclude myself from the sports betting page and made a decent sized bet on the football and darts and lost :( I have no discipline sometimes !!!

I also placed a bet on the League Cup Final Liverpool vs Man City, I used that new spin n bet and got a 10x multiplier which would of made my roll super healthy if that come in but they ended up drawing 1-1.

It was the first time I used that spin and bet when I seen it was multiplied by 10 I was over the moon.

Now because I have no discipline at all and never stick to my plans because I am a donk I am going to have to drop down to 4 tabling 2NL zoom to rebuild roll.

Definitely the Bugs articles are a great read... Honestly i only read first 3 i wish i have more time to read but with doing full time job plus having a side job and wanting to get better at poker only leaves you 2 hours a day to poker and i mixing learning and playing in that time but it's getting emotionally and physically draining specially on days when variance strikes with its best weapons like last week or so, i tend to believe that there is no such thing as rigged software or withdrawing curse or anything but you can imagine what its like when you see all your winnings goes down the toilet day by day and it seems that you have no answer...

I started playing mss or shallow stack, name it how ever you want after i exchanged few PM's with member LD1977, he gave me some tips and advised me to switch to 50bb game to limit my loses while im learning the right game mechanics and concepts, back in that time i was a massive loser at 2nl and with that system i managed to beat 2nl and 5nl that was when i accepted a offer to be stacked and coached for rakeback by some lokal stakers and their idea was to play 40bb 10nl and eventually move up while im improving my game... here i am now, 50+k hands later being -1bb/100 at 10nl, some wold say that its not bad and its not far from beating the stake and moving up but sometimes i feel that dont have fuel to drive me anymore...

about the pokerstars, i havent really liked the software there, fulltilt was the first room where i created the acc and i played there and made my BF from scratch there and i would keep playing there if i haven't accepted the stake deal, now in future if the deal endsi dont think that i would ever leave microgaming, as part of the deal since my stackers are affiliate with them i got highest loyalty status, 33% rakeback and deposit and reloading bonus which makes total of 50% rake back, when the deal ends i would probably deposit my own money and keep playing there cuz with my volume i wont get any better deal on any other room...

She claims to have her own twitch stream as well where she plays mainly mixed games

Cheers mate, will deffo be having a look at that. Have you ever trie that 8 game on stars ?

If you are interested they do HU sit n go's for only $1.50 if you ever wanna play a game with me, or even I don't mind using play money just to help people get used to them.

The reason I like them is because out of the 6 players you might get 2 or 3 max who are OK-decent at NLHE which is what we specialise in. And the PLO players are not much better.

I, not to bad at stud it;s just stu hi/o, FLO8 and razz I struggle with but if you ever bored and fancy a change we can play a few HU sit n go's only the smallest stake ones. I'll inbox you my skype in a bit anyway so you have it ok bud :)
