Putting the deposit down today on the holiday that's gonna split me n the missus up!

We have £600 spare per month after bills etc but not including any savings or entertainment expenses, and this holiday is going to be costing us 570 per month to pay off, obv leaving us with not very much money to do anything outside of working and sleeping.....for 11months!

I'm going to spend the last year of my 20's in one of three places, the house, my car, or at0 work, living with no spare money, all for the sake of 2 weeks in Florida, am I the only one that thinks tensions will be high this year? Would anyone else be happy grinding away at work knowing that you can't see any return on it until you go away for a whole 2 weeks?

Is this what people do to go on expensive holidays? Live like a tramp for the prev year? Or do they do as I suggested to the wife, given our 600ish extra, look.for a holiday that will cost 400 per month, giving us space to breathe and some money for random shit like tires blowing etc? She's obv havi none of it tho and if I I don't wanna go Florida then I can tell the kids etc etc

Never get ****ing married kids, it is nothing but a pain in the ass, stay single and make sensible decisions on your own

Agree with you last sentiment totally, marriage is just so fkin ridiculous.

As for the rest of it, well holidays have basically put us in debt every year we have gone. I think she is being totally unreasonable, but wtf do you expect she's a woman, logic and rational behaviour do not exist in their ****ing mindset.

We should hook up together mate (not in a gay sense obv) coz I doubt I'll be with my missus this time next year!

lol marriage.

Jag and Peel should get a civil partnership (but no butt stuff) live together and make sensible, rational, male decisions.

That might be the future right there, always plenty of strange around. Probably get laid more that way actually.

Not every woman is unreasonable and irrational. For the record (no offense to you and the missus orangie), I think her "plan" is ****ing ridiculous. The last few years have been pretty lean over here on my end, and though you hate telling kids no, I don't see anything wrong with explaining to them in terms they can understand (depending on age) that money doesn't grow on trees, and showing them how to be responsible with your money is a better gift in the long run. There are many things we used to do/buy, but just can't anymore unless we want to be totally broke.

In fact, what you described seems totally and completely unsustainable over the long run. How do you plan on handling unexpected expenses (such as tires blowing out, etc. as you mentioned) without driving yourself further into debt? Trust me, been there, done that, and the stress was unbelievable until we finally woke up and said, "WTF? This is madness." Piece of mind and not being finanacially strapped/ultra stressed sounds better than a 2 week Florida vacation, which you probably won't enjoy, because you know how much it has cost you.

Don't do it! Put it off for 2 years and save $200/month for it now while saving $200/mo for something closer/cheaper this year then save your $400/month for it next year. Seriously, be the bad guy to the kids. Explain that it will have to wait one more year. Even if the marriage doesn't make it at least you won't split with a boatload of debt.

LOL, well it was about $80/hr, which is about $80/hr more than I make now! ;)

You took it, huh? gl as a professional poker player!

I hate bills, holidays, money, but I do however love my wife and I love being married to her. Also to whoever says Iam young and dumb, we've been together more than 11 years. With that said, I wish Orange and Jagsti, much luck. Really hope it works out.

Neil, take this from someone who has been in debt for over 20 years dude. Do not exacerbate the situation. Try and save up gradually and go on holiday within your means. We used to take loans out to go on holiday plus all the credit card shit. Its truly depressing going into debt.

Fortunately poker has helped a bit over the last few years. But its so easy top get into debt, and it's ****ing ridiculously difficult to get out.

Actually Tammy speaks rational sense for a woman! And the old man WV always speaks sense!

I mean some of the holidays that ive done with the missus in recent years has changed her mind completely. Started on the honeymoon, we had 10 days in SA with nowhere to stay and just a rental car, though she was going to leave when i told her. But for less than $50 p/d we lived like kings on an epic adventure.

Done the same in the algarve last year, 2 weeks, and a car. Cheap as hell and way better than any shitty 5 star resort, and ive stayed in lots of them.
